Weights are based on relative importance of major U.S. customers, competitors in world markets, and suppliers to the U.S. Indexes are subject to revisions for up to 1 year due to delayed reporting by some countries. High-value products are total agricultural exports less bulk exports. Source: Nominal exchange rates are obtained from the IMF International Financial Statisitics. Exchange rates for the EU-12 are obtained from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Full historical series are available back to January 1970 at http://www.ers.usda.gov/data/exchangerates/ 1. A major revision to the weighting scheme and commodity definitions was completed in June 2008. This significantly altered the series from previous versions. Beginning in July 2008, the base of the series has been changed from 2000 to 2005. In addition, the composition of the commoditites and commodity groups under U.S. suppliers was changed to more closely reflect the pattern of U.S. imports.
