Another Gospel
THE MAN CHRIST JESUS, JOSE LUIS DE JESUS Verse 6 of Galatians, chapter 1. Are we all there?
It says…. In writing to the Galatian brothers over in Galatia, the apostle Paul says…
Galatians 1:6-10, he told them:
"I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different
gospel, Which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of
Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have
preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches
any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men,
or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ."
I receive that my mind is your mind, the mind of Christ, and that it manifests the thoughts that edify. In the
name of Jesus these people are nourished. Thank you, Lord. Amen, glory to God.
One of my favorite letters that we have studied in the last twelve years is Galatians, because there is a
warning. It has always caught my attention when Paul says; "If anyone preaches any other gospel," and
then he says: "or an angel from heaven". If an angel would appear from heaven…
You know, people respect men with a lot of charisma. There are men that have so much charisma that
they confuse and convince. But “if an angel appears” - imagine an angel that would take on a body and
appear to you preaching something else. The apostle demands you firmly to dare say, “I'm sorry but I
cannot receive that”.
Now notice, the apostle says: “Or an angel". Sometimes it grabs my attention that Peter was thought of as
an angel. Peter was like an angel for the church. Well, once, they were praying for him because he was in
jail and he appeared and the church said “Look, the angel of Peter is there”, and Peter said, “What angel?
It is me; the Lord has opened the doors”.
Now, you have to understand, and if you do not understand this, you will suffer a lot in this last hour. You
cannot be confused with the signs. We will have signs, we have signs here, but we have to understand
something, that the signs cannot occupy the place of the gospel. That's very important; that the signs
should not occupy the place of the gospel of grace.
Because Peter, who did so many marvels and signs, look what Paul had to do to him. Look for Galatians
chapter 2. Galatians 2:14, look what it says, he had signs but he did not have knowledge and look what
Paul had to do to Peter:
"But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before
them all, If you being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel
Gentiles to live as Jews?"
Imagine, if you visit a church and the pastor is a marvelous person, a decent person, a Christian and you
are visiting that church. And the brothers are very sweet, but what happens is that the pastor has left from
grace. As he leaves grace, he's in another gospel. And being in another gospel, the church is cursed, and
you are there innocently, ignorantly.
-“Well, this is the church just like any other…”
Yes, this is a church as any other, but by being deviated from the gospel of grace, there are curses there.
And how does the curse start? It starts in the lips of the pastor, without him even knowing it, and you start
to pay the consequences. All of a sudden, this couple is hurt and then the church gets divided. And the
Word of God starts to disappear and the sovereignty of God is not there anymore. Because then you
have free will, and this and that. And man starts to manifest in the congregation, insulting the sovereignty
of God. What I am telling you is very important.
Look, right now this should be on television, with all the pastors of the United States looking at this so that
they are not deviated from the truth, because the church will go adrift if you leave from grace.
Galatians 1:8, it says:
"But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to
you, let him be [what?] accursed.”
Verse 7
“Which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ."
In this case, you know who was the one perverting the gospel? It was Peter. How many pastors listen to
me in the radio and internally say: "Hey, he makes sense, I read that." But they say, “but if I humble
myself…” –so then they have fear– “If I say that he makes sense, everyone is going to leave the church”.
On the contrary, if the pastor humbles himself the members will say, look how humble the pastor is. And
then they will support him more and no one will leave.
What the doctrine of grace does is it makes you die to “you”. And you start to have a confidence in the
Lord. “The Lord will defend my cause; the Lord will defend my cause”.
Well, you saw that I defended myself once in the radio and you saw what I did. I declared them all
blessed. Yes, if I do it in the flesh and I say, no because there are some dummies listening to me that
don't understand me. And then the war continues.
And everything operates this way.
That's how it works with my children. Sometimes, something happens with one of them and my flesh
wants to… and I grab my flesh, and I start justifying them, “he is this old….this week this has happened
like this and that”. So when I get to him, I have grabbed on to grace and when I speak to my children, I do
not mistreat them. Let's see a starting point, where you have to die so that grace can be.
Let's read Romans 9:30-33, so we can give it a background, look what it says:
"What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to
righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not
attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the
works of the law. For they stumbles at that stumbling stone. As it is written: "Behold, I lay in Zion a
stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. Brethren, my
hearts desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they
have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness,“
Here is the trap .Pay attention, don't fall in this trap:
"For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have
not submitted to the righteousness of God."
Now, look at this verse, which gives you the key, be intelligent. Romans 10:4-5 says:
"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Moses writes about the
righteousness which is of the law, The man who, [believes those things?] does this”
Do you see the difference between “to do” and “to believe”? When you speak of believing, you can't
speak of doing. When you speak of doing you can't be speaking of believing. And you can say, “Pastor,
then why does James say (James 2:24) that man is justified by works?” Well, I will explain that to you
later. Let's read it again Romans 10:5-10 says:
"For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall live
by them. But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not say in your heart, Who will ascend into
heaven?" (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, "Who will descend into the abyss?"(that is, to bring
Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart"
(that is, the word of faith which we preach). That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one
believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Now, let's go quickly right there to Romans 3:21.
"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law [what together from the law?] No apart from the
law”
There can't be grace and law together – either you are in grace or you are in the law.
“Is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets...”
They spoke about this:
“Even the righteousness of god, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no
difference;"
Let's read verse 27…
"Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.”
In other words, in the law, to please the Lord you had to “do”. You had to do “works”, an eye for an eye,
and tooth for tooth.
Look, there was a brother who gave us testimony that the works did not work for him. He was in jail, there
was no money. So then, he decided to go in the law of the faith. Faith is not foolishness. No! It’s a law. It's
a law! If you go in that law and you start to live by it….
It's a law and you have to respect it as a law. A law has to enter your home. When you have the fear of
God and you tell your child, “Look, here don't say that because we are violating the law of faith. Turn that
off because by faith we are firm.”
So then, the law of faith works this way, God says that I am saved, therefore I am.
In other words, a different gospel, a different gospel is when the pastor says, “Oh! Well, we are saved by
grace but you have to “do”. So, do you see the deviation right there? As soon as the pastor says, “Yes,
we are saved by grace - but if you do not repent, if you do not do this...” But if you do not do this?!! That's
where you have a problem!
I know this is delicate because you get thoughts of plotting and hardiness.
- “But, Pastor, we have to have discipline here and if not, the brothers will go adrift and what will people
say?”
Leave that to the Lord. [Applause]
That's where the problem starts when all of a sudden, the brother wants to “help” God.
- “No, no, Pastor but look, let's prohibit them from chewing gum in church or not to dress this way. And to
be member here, let's have a list of requirements that will allow them to belong”.
It looks very nice and it works for a certain amount of time, but as long as they are filling out the
requirements… But the pastor says, “Oh, this is a holy church. We have to fill out these requirements and
you have to meet with me half an hour to see if I accept you”.
The problem is…do you know what the problem is? That you have established some laws, and all of a
sudden, someone arrives that does not qualify…and when that person comes and you tell them, “Oh, I
am sorry, but in this church, we cannot accept you the way you are, because we have rules”. And that's
when the spirit of the Lord starts to be saddened - so many rules, so many rules...
You see, over in Puerto Rico, if you have a beard, you have to shave. If your sideburns are too low, you
have shave them higher. And if the style is to have them down, you got to go up. Yes, I remember that
pant hems used to always be folded. So, then what happens? Well, I knew that pants like that with a
folded hem came into style in '68, '70. There was a problem, because I went to a church - well, when you
went to go buy pants then, the hems were no longer folded they were now down – and there was a pastor
that said that if you wear your pants this way it’s the symbol of the antichrist. And now you see the pastor
with what, with pant hems down, because you can't find them any other way! So the problem is, if you buy
them with the hem folded, now you are too modern, because that is in style now to wear them this way.
Now, I do not even dare to wear them this way, because I feel bad.
Look at the style, that’s what the bible says, "If you have died with Christ, from the basic principles of the
world. Why as though you are living in the world, you subject yourself to regulations, do not touch, do not
taste, do not handle. Which concern all things that perish with use.” Col.2:20-22
Grace, the Lord's grace, demands responsibilities. The only thing is that is something individual with you
and the Lord. That's why Galatians 6:5 says:
"For each one shall bear his own load"
And when you do it this way, you eliminate criticizing and the gossip, and that you judge this person or
that person. You eliminate all of that. Simply, you start to respect the individual for who they are.
Imagine if I go to your house this afternoon and all of a sudden, you have to transform your living room to
impress me. That looks bad. “The pastor is coming, we have to take those magazines out of there, hide
the TV guides so he doesn't think that we have cable. What will he think if we have cable? How will he
judge us? What will he think of us if you receive this magazine from this company?”
You know, that's how legalism is. When you were not in grace you had to impress him. That's why I told
you, we are going to play tomorrow and you do not have to impress me. I love you just the way you are.
-“Yes, pastor but you have to mention that there are some sisters that are wearing their clothes too
provocatively”.
Let them be, with their clothes and all.
- “But don’t you think they should take care of the way they dress?”
Yes, they should take care of the way they dress, but that should matter to their own husbands, not me! I
am not her husband. If that doesn't bother her husband, then leave it alone.
-“Yes, but what are we going to do with the church?”
We are going to do what God does with His church, He is the one that takes care of her, He is the great
Shepherd of the sheep and he is the one that gives the growth.
I remember that in Puerto Rico, a young man once showed up with a long braid and he had a saxophone.
And he would play that saxophone and I loved the way he played it. And he would play psalms, his name
was Paul David, and he would play some beautiful songs. And Paul served as a “thermometer”, as the
Lord telling me who is a legalist and who is not. So all I had to do was say, “Today, we have Paul David”
and then you would see the faces, as if saying, how can the pastor permit that man to be up there with
the long braid? So, I loved Paul David!
Don't be bothered, because there are some people here that have a very religious background and they
could be bothered by your braid. And, you know, he continued and all of a sudden, six months later, Paul
David came with a haircut. And those that loved him, there was nothing wrong but those that had the
faces well they continued with their anger. And they continued with their anger or some came to him and
said, “Oh now, yes, yes...”. All because of some hair!
And now let's look Hebrews 13:7 says:
"Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow,
considering the outcome of their conduct. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. "Do
not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by by
what? grace”
Do you know what I am doing right now? I am trying to establish your heart. That means to put stakes
there and secure it, so it does not move from grace. Because I know that when you leave here, these
things may seem strange, but notice, strange is what they have, not us, because what I am saying is what
grace says. Look what it says there, I will repeat it:
"Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established
by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them."
The apostle Paul had to talk about foods because, in those times, what they ate had a lot of importance
with religion. And that's where the Catholics developed the idea of not eating meat on Fridays, prohibiting
this, prohibiting that.
Look, Christianity has nothing to do with food. If you eat wrongly, you will pay for it. If you want to live
many days, be careful with how you eat. Control your mouth. You have to eat and maybe stop some of
that rice. Eat less. How do you do it? First, you have to have the conviction that you should take care of
this. Now, that’s speaking of the flesh, but in the spirit, it is good that the heart be established by grace.
Don't leave from grace. Don't get out of grace.
Look for Colossians 2:18. It says:
"Let no one cheat you of your reward,”
You know, there are people that want to cheat you of your reward, because they are legalists. Because
they dress this way, because they dress that way. They are aware of one’s appearance, always looking at
the outside.
"Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into
those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head,
from whom all the body, nourished and knot together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that
is form God. Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, do you subject
yourselves to regulations? Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle, which all concern things which
perish with the using according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have
an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no
value against the indulgence of the flesh.”
In other words, they are self-imposed religion. God does not require it, if you want to dress in a certain
way, a man or a woman. If you want to assume a certain posture, that's voluntary. God does not require it.
And it says that it has an appearance of wisdom. The woman who watches or does that has some
wisdom but not all wisdom.
And it says that all of this has no value against the indulgence of the flesh. When the temptation is there,
it does not matter how you are dressed. If you do not have knowledge and your heart is not firm in grace,
you will suffer.
Well, those who have a legalist family telling you that this is false, and that “You should not go there!”
Look, you have to tell them to be quiet in a very wise way. “I do not receive what you are saying; I know
what I have believed in, because I have this [JH holds up the bible] to back it. But you have to grow in
grace. People that criticize you just because you are coming here, all they want to do is to trouble you
because they are troubled, and they are not sure.
Let's look for the 1st letter to the Corinthians 15:9-10. You have to establish your heart by grace. As long
as you are not in grace, the Lord will not operate with you the way He wants to. Because you would be
incredulous in your heart, you will stop God's marvel in your life. As long as you have doubt in this
ministry, you will lose time, you will delay the plans. The Lord's grace has to be clear. Look, what it says
there, verse 9:
"For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the
church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I
labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God in me."
Look how he fixed it when he spoke of the eleven apostles. I came here last, and I came as an abortion
and I was not in the eleven. But I have worked more abundantly than all of them and then he had to
correct himself, but not me, but rather the grace of God in me - and not the one of “works”, where you
have to “do” just so you can say “I am a Christian”. Listen, just like “I”. Do you know those people that say
“I, I, and I” and “No, me!” and “What I have done” and this and that - trying to impress you, they always
want to impress you, and are always saying “me, me, me”. NO! It is the grace of the Lord in me that
makes me do these things.
And when it is grace, there is no boasting. When there is grace, there is no boasting, no boasting.
