Name of your Organization cordially invites you to support National Youth Traffic
Safety Month by considering a proclamation and participating as your schedule permits.
By getting involved, you can help the youth of your city/state understand that adults in
our community are concerned about youth traffic safety and support our efforts. Every
year more than 4,000 youth lives are lost due to traffic related injuries – a scary statistic
that we are working to change.
Throughout the month of May, youth around the country will be participating in activities
to promote youth traffic safety awareness in support of the fifth annual National Youth
Traffic Safety Month. May is an important time to raise awareness about this issue with
the increased risky times of prom, graduation, and the summer driving season. We are
asking everyone to support this youth-led campaign to raise awareness and increase
education concerning youth traffic safety.
We know that youth safety is very important to you and seek your assistance in the
following ways:
Issue a proclamation: We are asking you to proclaim May as National Youth
Traffic Safety Month in name of city or state. A proclamation would indicate your
support and assist in obtaining the support of others. Please find enclosed a
sample proclamation.
Submit a Letter to the Editor: Please send a letter to the editor to your local
paper to indicate your support for this campaign. A sample letter is enclosed for
your convenience.
Participate: Our organization is share details about your planned activities. We
invite you to participate in our event, or host a town hall meeting or a press event
to proclaim your concern and support for youth traffic safety in your
state/city/region.
Any support and/or assistance you can provide will have a great impact on helping us get
the message out about youth traffic safety. We thank you in advance for the work that
you do and will do to help the youth of state/city/region be safe on our roads.

National Youth Traffic Safety Month is coordinated by National Organizations for Youth
Safety (NOYS), a nonprofit coalition of youth led and youth serving national
organizations that focus on youth safety and health. More information is available at
