We take an in-depth look at how ICT is used in a
variety of areas.
• How hospitals use ICT for scanning and patient records.
• The ways in which business uses ICT for product
design and manufacture.
• ICT in supermarkets and online shopping.
• How ICT is used in schools for learning and
administration.
• Home uses for ICT such as entertainment and banking.

Finally we explore the different types of
networks essential to ICT today.
• Local and Wide Area Networks
• The Internet and Extranets
• Benefits and problems with email
• File Transfer Protocols – chat rooms,
online shopping
Spreadsheet Analysis
During the course students will create a complex spreadsheet.
As part of the exam they will take in their spreadsheet and
answer questions about it.
We will also investigate the use of computers for simulation
modelling.
