New Business:
Cheryl Currens spoke to us about our account agreements. She went over accounts that needed
updating. Handouts were provided to the council regarding our accounts. The council decided
to up the scholarship amounts to $750 for full time student and $250 for a part time student since
the cost of tuition has risen. We decided to change the name on our foundation agreements to IU
Kokomo Staff Scholarship Council. We also decided to take the 37 account and keep $30,000
on the invest side and take $3,000 on the income side for a cushion in case we might need it later
down the road.
Cheryl Little presented Stefanie Lorenz with her diploma frame. Stefanie received her MBA this
spring.
This year’s full time scholarship recipient is Mary Janna Mallay and the part time is Erik Allen
Pattison
Cathy shared with the council an email that went to Marsha Shaw which came from Karla Stouse
regarding the bottled water that was provided to faculty during graduation. Karla said the faculty
appreciated it very much and wanted to thank the council for donating it to them.
Cathy also shared with the council an email from Diana Goodnight regarding wheelchairs and
that she is still working on potential donors.
Tara updated the council about the craft show. She has approved about 40 some applications.
We are taking out two booths in the student commons because two computer stations will be
added for students this fall.
Amy Guerre was introduced to the council. Amy works Part time in the Education department.
Anna presented Amy with a welcome bag. Also, Jennifer Brown was introduced to the council.
Jennifer works as an Admission Specialist.
Oleatha and Anna were both unable to attend the meeting to share the results for officers for
2006-2007, so Tara reported for them. There were 25 votes slated for officers. Cathy Archer
will remain President as well as Marsha Shaw, Vice-President. Kathy Coppola will be the new
secretary and Cheryl Little will remain treasurer even though she as served for more than two
years.
President Herbert will be meeting the council on August 31, 2006. We need to accumulate
questions to ask him. A few council members have sent emails to Cathy with questions. We

will address this at next months meeting. She would also like to meet with the Chancellor to go
over what we plan to ask and make sure they are ok.
Thank you card from Marcia Reynolds, Marcia Andersen, and Kathy Coppola was passed
around to the council.
The Brown County Trip is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2006. The university bus and
driver have been reserved. It was decided since we will be taking the smaller bus that council
members will not have to pay a fee but chip in to tip the driver. Also after a count of members
has been taken and extra seats are available guests may attend for a nominal fee. Cathy sent
around a sign up sheet to see how many council members would be interested. A further
discussion will take place at next months meeting.
Cathy asked the council to think of new fundraising ideas for 2006-2007. Kathy Coppola
suggested making your own scarecrow for this fall. Also, candles seem to be a big draw and
money maker. This will be up for further discussion at our next meeting. Cathy suggested
Blonde Cookies and Shirley suggested a car wash.
