Healing
Health is more than having a body that works. It is a sense of well-being
related to harmony in body, mind, and spirit. Healing, then, is a means of
restoring that harmony or re-establishing a sense of wholeness.
In Western culture, healing is frequently limited to physical cure; however,
healing can also take place at the emotional and spiritual levels.
Furthermore, healing goes beyond an individual’s personal health to
include relationships among people and relationships between individuals
and God.
A variety of interventions assist the healing process; scientific medicine,
caring friends, religious practices, and healthy lifestyle choices. Healing is
also enhanced by the emotions of faith, hope, and love. On the other hand,
anger, bitterness, fear, hate and resentment can interfere with healing.
The following are some strategies that you can use to assist in your own
healing:
1. Improve your strength by getting enough rest, eating a nutritious diet,
and planning time for exercise and fun.
2. Avoid the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco as a means to escape
problems. They will not solve the problem and they have serious side
effects.
3. Take time for yourself and the things that are important to you. Try
new activities. Take pride in your accomplishments.
4. Develop your sense of humor and be able to laugh at yourself. It is a
great way to relieve tension.
5. Communicate your feelings. Seek support from family and friends
who offer encouragement and assistance.

6. Nurture your spiritual health. Take time for meditation, prayer, and
study. Participate in religious ceremonies or rituals that give meaning
to your life and provide comfort and strength. Open yourself to God
who loves and cares for your.
7. Learn to manage stress. Set realistic goals, practice relaxation
techniques, and develop your communication skills. Use time and
energy wisely.
