The Carter Center, in partnership with Emory University, is committed to
advancing human rights and alleviating unnecessary human suffering. Founded
in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn
Carter, the Atlanta-based Center has helped to improve the quality of life for
people in more than 65 countries.
For over 20 years, the Carter Center Internship Program has provided thousands
of interns with a rewarding complement to classroom experience, enhancing
participants' educations and careers in the field of public service. The unique
opportunities offered by the program have earned it international recognition
and a growing applicant pool for each session. Carter Center interns come
from around the world and make vital contributions to the Center's work of
waging peace, fighting disease and building hope. In turn, the Center provides
a substantive learning experience that serves as a basis for interns to explore
their career options and to develop professional skills. The goal of the
internship program is to advance an informed, skilled and committed workforce
serving peace, health and development needs around the world.
Students have the opportunity to intern in the following areas: Americas
Program (AP), Democracy Program (DP), Conflict Resolution Program (CRP),
Human Rights Program (HR), China Program (CP), Education Program (EDU),
Health Programs-Global 2000 (G2000), Development (DEV), Art Services (ART),
