```					HOW TO DRAW TEXAS
x
• It’s easy to draw the
state of Texas if you
think in terms of
proportions.
• First, draw the
northern boundary
of the Panhandle.
This is your base
measurement.
X
• Next, draw the
X
eastern edge of
the Panhandle.
• It is about the
same length as
the northern
edge.
• The 3rd line you’ll         X
draw is the
western edge of                 X
2X
the Panhandle.
• It is about twice as
long as its northern
border.
• Your 4th line will                X
be the straight line
west from the                         X
southern end of              2X
the Panhandle.         1½X
• It is about 1 ½
times as long as
the northern edge
of the Panhandle.
• Now, draw the
northern border of               X
Texas—the Red
River.                               X
2X           2X
• Draw a “river” line
east from the         1½X
eastern line of the
Panhandle that is
about the same
length as the
western edge of the
Panhandle.
• Draw the eastern                   X
border
• Draw a straight line                   X
2X           2X
south from the
eastern end of your     1½X
Red River line until
it is about even with
the southern end of
the western edge of
the Panhandle.
• To finish the eastern             2X           2X
boundary, draw a
“river” line (this is the   1½X
Sabine River) in a
X
slight arc to the east.
• This should be about
as long as the
northern boundary of
the Panhandle.
• Now, draw the                     X
coastal boundary of
X
Texas.                       2X           2X
• Draw an arc to the
southwest until the    1½X
bottom of the arc is                           X
about half way
along the Red
River.
• Next, draw the
X
southern border—the
Rio Grande.
X
• From the western-most          2X           2X
tip of Texas, draw a
“river” line south at    1½X
about a 45o angle.
• When your river line                             X
reaches the western
edge of the Panhandle,
it should be slightly
south of the
southeastern corner of
Texas.
• Gently arc your line
X
north & east until you
are about halfway                       X
through the                    2X           2X
Panhandle.
1½X
• Continue your river
line south until you                             X
meet the coastal
boundary.
• Voila! Now you
have drawn your
very own map of
Texas!
GREAT!!!!!
