Hello ACDFA participants,
There is a lot of paperwork to read and some forms to fill out
and return to me. Below is a checklist and description to help
keep you (and me!) organized.
Technical Information Sheet (3 pages):
This is what you are reading now. This will answer your
questions about the theatre, basic lighting, sound &
projection. It also includes my contact information and due
dates for your paperwork to me.
Please note that I have not included a fax #. I hope to
receive your paperwork via email but should you need to fax-
please contact me by email or phone and I can arrange to
receive your fax.
DO contact me if you have ANY questions. The sooner I receive
your information the easier it will be for us to accommodate
any needs you may have.
I look forward to meeting and working with all of you.
Forms to be returned to me:
Performance Information Sheet: (Deadline for return is April
15th)
This tells me the basic information about your piece and lets
me get your contact information.
Custom Preset Form: (Deadline for return is April 25th)
This is the light cue tracking sheet. We will pre-load your
cues so it is important that you get this to me in time.
Other paperwork for you to download:
Magic Sheet
Channel Hookup
Miller Theatre Spec sheet (for more detailed information than
is on this sheet)

General Theatre information:
*Please see Miller technical specifications sheet PDF for more details
Stage dimensions: + 18’-0” high (borders all trim at +14’-0”) x
39’-0” wide (at the proscenium) x 24-6” deep (including the 3’-6”
depth of the proscenium) with hard leg openings set at 32’-0” wide.
Therefore, for your rehearsal purposes, you can mark the stage as
32’ wide x 24’-6” deep.
There are 4 wings with hard legs at +5’-0”, +10’-3”, + 15’-11” &
+19’-6” (upstage of the plaster line). *Note! Hard legs. Please
mark wings for your rehearsal purposes.
The lighting booms are fixed in the middle of each wing.
The ceiling height offstage is +6’-10” (very low!)
Backdrop choices are either a black scrim and white back wall
(which acts as a cyc) with mini-strips top and bottom; or a black
velour traveler that is located just upstage of the black scrim.
There is no white scrim.
Please note on the ground plan that there are structural walls just
upstage of the # 2 booms on both sides of the stage. This is also
where the sound monitors get placed so entrances and exits in the
2nd wing are tight.
There is no room upstage of the cyc but there is a cross-over via
an upstage corridor just behind the stage. The surface of the
cross-over is painted concrete.
The stage surface at the Miller is a sprung wooden floor. It will
be covered with black Marley Dance Flooring. THE USE OF ROSIN IS
NOT ALLOWED.
This is not a fly house so there is no overhead rigging.
No alcohol or smoking is allowed in the theatre
No food or drink is permitted in the backstage area, other
than water in sealable water bottles
Only the tech crew, performers, associated
faculty/choreographer and stage manger for the concert or
tech rehearsal in progress will be permitted backstage during
tech rehearsals and performances
Please remind your students to be courteous and respectful to
other performers and stage crew during this process
Stage Management:
Each college must provide a stage-manager who is thoroughly
knowledgeable of all technical elements required for the dance.
This person will serve in the usual capacity of stage manager,
including the calling of all lighting and sound cues. Also, she
or he must ensure that the stage is configured correctly before
the dance begins, i.e. background setting, boom color changes,
and any special needs. She or he will also supervise your
strike. There will be a stage manager’s console downstage right
(backstage), reserved for stage-management use. That is the
best place to give the cues, as the stage-manager will be able
to ensure that the dancers are ready for the piece to begin.
There is a video monitor at the SM console. There is program
monitor to the dressing rooms / green room, but no paging
system

Lighting Information:
* Please be sure to download the magic sheet and channel hookup.
There can be NO FOCUS CHANGES (other than the rovers) by ANYONE for ANY
REASON. There is absolutely no change-over time in the schedule.
Please keep it simple.
If you have a specific request for rover colors or placement, please
indicate the specifics on the Performance Information Sheet.
If you are bringing your own sidelight color (gels), please do not frame
them. Color is placed, unframed, behind a frame in the instrument. You
will need to retrieve your color at the end of the concert. If you get
your color needs to me quickly, we will try to provide what we can. I
will keep you informed as to color availability.
The Miller has an ETC Express 250 Console. Your light cues will be
loaded prior to your arrival. We are providing a “Custom Preset form”
which is basically a track sheet for your lighting cues. Please make
sure to download the “Custom Preset Form”. It is on Excel so you can
fill out your sheets and email them back to me by April 25th, 2008. If
you prefer to print them yourself and fill them out manually, please
make sure to mail them to me by the April 25th deadline.
Sound information:
Please provide 2 CDs clearly labeled with the name of the school,
choreographer and title of the piece. (Please do not bring iPods or
minidisk) The CD should only contain sound for your dance. We
recommend using CD-R’s.
On the Performance Information Sheet please indicate the number
of tracks, including the title of each piece and any other
specific cues related to sound.
Projection Information:
The only projection position at the Miller Theatre will be on the
edge of the apron. Projecting from this position means that the
dancers shadows will be visible on the backdrop. If you are using
projection, you must provide your own projector, source (i.e.,
DVD player, laptop) and operator. You must also have your sound
on a separate CD that we can play through the house sound system.
Please note that schools using projection will not be given any
additional tech time.
