I
   owa Western is nestled on 300 beautiful acres in Iowa’s Loess Hills and
   provides students with a major college atmosphere in a quiet setting.
   The college’s new Reiver Suites, remodeled apartments and large
residence hall give students a chance to encounter the ultimate
college experience.

On Iowa Western’s modern campus, students can enjoy a relaxing
and safe environment in which to learn. The new $12 million student
center is the perfect place for students to unwind. The beautiful two-
story facility features a cyber cafe, game room, an expanded library and
many other amenities.
Students are encouraged to take part in an array of extracurricular
activities that cultivate the college experience, such as intramural
sports, concert choir, instrumental music, cheerleading and
Phi Theta Kappa, a national academic achievement

                                                                                      Godbout holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from
                                                                                      Simpson College and did his post graduate studies in sports exercise
                                                                                      science at Central Missouri State University. He is currently a full-time
                                                                                      firefighter/paramedic with the city of Council Bluffs Fire Department.

 Record-Breaking Season for
 Reiver Men and Women in 2011
                                                  The Reiver men’s and women’s track and field
                                                  teams had another history-making season in
                                                  2011. The men’s team broke 13 indoor re-
                                                  cords and nine outdoor records. The Reiver
                                                  women did their share of record breaking as
                                                  well as they shattered 12 indoor records and
                                                  seven outdoor records. Both teams ended
                                                  the Region XI indoor and outdoor champion-
                                                  ship seasons with second place team finishes.
                                                  In addition, 13 women and 16 men qualified        Nicolia Edwards, seventh place in the indoor 600m.

                                                  Isaiah Samoei, the Reivers top distance runner, earned All-Ameri-
                                                  can honors in the 5K with a second place finish. Terry Anderson

                                                  American Honorable Mention honors. Other top eight finishers
                                                  for the men were Brian Clark/Winn (heptathlon - seventh place),

                                                  (high jump - fifth place), Jamel Wood (400m - fourth place), Banjo

                                                  Landburg, and Jamel Wood (4x400m relay - seventh place), Kyle
                                                  Blue (3K - seventh place).
 Isaiah Samoei earned All-American honors in
 the indoor 5K and outdoor 10K.                  More women finished in the top eight than ever before in the
                                                 program’s history. Shennae Steele (55m - seventh place, 200m
- fifth place), Nicolia Edwards (600m - seventh place), Jenny Wichert, Edna Johnson, Lacey Wright, and Zenah
Chepkwony (Distance Medley Relay – eighth place). The men’s team ended up 4th in the team standings and
the women’s team finished in 18th place.

                                                                                     The Reivers continued with       Kyle Blue finished in seventh place in the

be one of the top academic years as well for the track and field teams as many of the athletes
graduated and moved on to NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA programs all over the
United States. The top academic awards went to Justin Hazard, Dominique Samuel, and Stephanie
Hamilton as they achieved the most prestigious award given of Academic All-American.

     men’s and women’s cross country/track and field. In 2011 Mohr received his
     master’s degree in applied exercise science from OSU.

     Originally from North Platte, Neb., Mohr lives in Omaha where he is close to
     family and friends.

                              First Class Facilities



                                                     The Kanesville Center

                                                     I owa Western Community College
                                                       student-athletes benefit from first-
                                                     class training facilities. The college
                                                     ushered in a new era in athletics in
                                                     Fall 2007 with the grand opening
                                                     of the renovated Kanesville Center.
                                                     The 28,000 square foot, $5 million
                                                     expansion is home to coaches’ offices,
                                                     customized locker rooms, a Hall of
                                                     Fame room, aerobics area, fitness
         Weight Room                                 center, and strength training room.

                                                     The Kanesville renovation project
                                                     also included a new physical therapy
                                                     treatment and hydro area, which is
                                                     home to the growing Sports Medicine
                                                     and Athletic Training program.
