IEEE WCNC 2011 to Explore Latest Advancements in Wireless

Communications & Networking

Hundreds of Researchers, Government Officials and Academia to Convene in Cancun, Mexico from

March 28 – 31 to Discuss Economic Implications & Societal Benefits of Next Stage Wireless

Technologies.

New York, NY, March 03, 2011 --(PR.com)-- The IEEE Wireless Communications & Networking

Conference (WCNC 2011), the international symposium dedicated to the latest advances in global

wireless communications, will hold its next premier annual event from March 28 - 31, 2011 in Cancun,

Mexico. During the course of the four-day event, hundreds of leading researchers, government officials

and academia from around the world will convene to discuss the economic implications and social

benefits of next-stage wireless technologies ranging from vehicular, multimedia and cooperative

communications to video streaming, networking and beamforming.

With a constant focus on innovation, IEEE WCNC 2011 will begin its comprehensive agenda of keynote

addresses, high-level business panels and technical sessions on Monday, March 28 with an entire day of

tutorials focused on topics such as “Beyond 4G Mobile Broadband,” “Cooperative Wireless

Communications,” “IP-based Mobility and Handover Optimization,” “Relay-enhanced LTE-Advanced

Networks” and “Game Theory for Multiple Access and Resource Allocation in Wireless Networks.”

On the following morning, Dr. Lajos Hanzo, Chair Professor of Telecommunications at the University of

Southampton in the United Kingdom, will open the day with his keynote presentation titled “Dispensing

with Channel Estimation: Near-Capacity Non-coherent Co-located and Distributed MIMO

Architectures.” A noted authority on mobile radio and wireless multimedia communications, Dr. Hanzo

will discuss how “advanced signal processing hardware became an off-the-shelf commodity” that

“facilitated near-capacity communications,” as well as the “design of low-complexity, low-power 'green'

telecomms solutions.”

Immediately afterward this address, the conference will then proceed with three days of presentations

including the panel discussions highlighting the “Future of Wireless Networks” and “Wireless Green

Networking.” During these sessions, leading authorities from Samsung, Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei, IBBT,

the University of Rome and the Technical University in Dresden, Germany will discuss the many industry

challenges posed by the rapid expansion of mobile Internet use worldwide as well as the most viable

methods for motivating manufacturers and researchers to develop new lines of low-power equipment and

networking systems. On Thursday, the panel of “Networking Challenges for Future Services” will also

explore the problems and possible solutions surrounding current networking technologies, ever-increasing

Internet traffic load and bandwidth-demanding services and applications.

In addition, IEEE WCNC 2011 will include over 80 technical sessions and the presentation of nearly 400

technical papers providing insights into the latest advances in energy efficiency, wireless routing and

networking, communications theory, cognitive radio, cooperative communications and resource

management. Among the specific topics are “Wideband Spectrum Sensing,” “Improving Energy

Efficiency in Mobile Phones,” “Sustainable Wireless Sensor Networks,” “Green Cellular Networks,”

“Power Allocation in Cognitive Radios,” “Relay Power Allocation Schemes” and “On

Vehicle-to-Roadside Communications.”

The IEEE Wireless Communications & Networking Conference (WCNC 2011) is hosted by the IEEE

Communications Society, which has over 40,000 members and is the second largest of IEEE's 38

technical societies. Founded in 1952, IEEE ComSoc is also recognized as a major international forum for

the exchange of ideas on communications and information networking.
