WHAT’S GOING ON IN…. .ADULT CHRISTIAN ED?

Exploring Christian Practices, taught by Mike Keene:

In this class, based loosely on Dorothy Bass’s book Practicing Our Faith, and Marcus Borg’s The Heart of Christianity,
we are exploring together the doing sides of Christian believing. Our emphasis will not be so much on whether or what we
believe, but on what, in terms of the tradition and in terms of our culture today, we do with that belief. After an overview
of the subject in week one, we’ll look at a different practice each week (last week was “Saying Yes and saying No”).
These practices include singing our lives, honoring the body, hospitality, household economics, keeping the sabbath,
testimony, discernment, shaping communities, forgiveness, healing, and dying well. You don’t need to read or have read
the book; I’ll have handouts to help the discussion along each week. A few handouts from the first two weeks are still
available. The class runs every Sunday morning from 9:15 to 10:15 up until Advent.
                          ~ Mike Keene
