Step 1 - Select e-book title URL’s
1 & 2) Highlighting Individual Titles
• Enter the individual e-book titles on your VLE
• Create A-Z lists of the titles
• Split these up by specific subject areas
• Use the links in newsletters to promote specific
titles
• Or department emails around faculty staff to
raise awareness of available titles Step 2 - Select an e-book cover image
Always include book jacket images where possible to appeal to
people’s visual awareness!
3) Using Searches to promote titles
Links to a specific search always provides up to date results for your Step 3 – Copy the URL from search results
users. Really useful as new content is added to your collection
• Send these pre-defined searches to users on
specific courses
• To faculty staff to help educate them on titles
available in their subjects
• Post on subject areas in your VLE to help start
students off with a specific search for their
courses
• Use the ‘export search results’ button to
produce excel lists and circulate to appropriate
staff and students
4) Using your Usage Reports effectively
• Use your usage statistics to help promote
Step 4 – Usage Reports
titles:
– Run a title activity report each
month, sort by usage and have a
‘top 10 titles this month’ section
on your website/VLE
– Include ‘category’ on the report
and create a top titles used list by
subject area
5) Other possible ideas
• Showcase a “book of the month”
• Highlight any new titles added to your collection
• Use resources created by ebrary and JISC:

• Any media studies students? – Get their tutors to set projects on promoting the e-books via flyers
or short promotional videos!
• Use QR codes displayed in the library or around the college to create interest and intrigue! (see
below for more information on these)
6) QR Codes

• Use the URL of a book title as seen above
in (Step 1)
• Generate the image (QR code) -print these
out on posters and put up around the
library, or even on t-shirts for the library
staff!
• Scan the code with your phone (and
correct application) and jump straight to
the programmed URL!
