Shopping Malls in Celje...
• What is Celje?
• 3rd largest town in Slovenia – around 45
thousand residents
...Shopping Malls in Celje
• 3 Shopping centers
• CityCenter (Interspar)
• Mercator Center (Mercator)
• Planet Tuš (Tuš)
Interspar
• 15 books
• Located left of the entrance, not very visible,
not much space
• 4 publishers (Učila – 10 books! )
• No Slovene authors!
Mercator
• 8 books
• Located left of the entrance, very small place,
very hidden
• 4 publishers
• 2 Cildren‘s Bibles
• 1 Slovene author!
Tuš
• 12 books
• Located near the check outs, quite spacefull,
better visible than other two, not ideal
• 5 publishers (6 - Mladinska knjiga, 3 – Grlica)
• 4 Slovene authors
Comparison with the best selling
books and best loaned books
BEST SELLING
• No match between the books
• Different publishers
• Slovene authors are hardly present on the
chart
BEST LOANED
• No match
What does this mean?
• Very poor choice (few publishers, few books)
• Almost no Slovene authors! Why?
• Books are located in most deserted areas – to
the left of the entrance – everybody goes right
or straight ahead, not left
• Interesting to know, hom many books they
sell, if they sell any
• They obviously don‘t consider popularity as
criteria for choice
• Question: who buys these books and why?
Conclusion
Don‘t buy children‘s books in
supermarkets!
