SUBJECT: Procedures for Registering Students Following the Occupational Course of Study (OCS) and
Students in the Specialized Behavior Support Program (SBS) into North Carolina
Virtual Public High School (NCVPS) Courses
ACTION: Share with EC Department Chair, EC Scheduler, and Career Development Coordinator
Complete and Return Attached Enrollment Form by October 29, 2010
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools was notified on October 18, 2010 that registration for NCVPS opened on
October 15, 2010 for NCSCOS courses, and will open November 15, 2010 for the below OCS virtual
courses.
Students following the OCS Pathway and students served in SBS programs have the opportunity to
register into North Carolina Virtual Blended Courses for the spring 2011 semester, if appropriate. In
addition to existing NCVPS course offerings, OCS virtual courses available spring 2011 semester
includes: OCS English II, OCS Algebra I, and OCS Biology.
In an effort to assist schools, Programs for Exceptional Children and Curriculum Support developed a
registration process:
Review student schedules and service delivery options for students following OCS or in SBS
Identify targeted students in need of online NCVPS courses
Determine courses needed for enrollment in NCVPS courses
Complete attached enrollment form and return by October 29, 2010 to
angelina.brewer@cms.k12.nc.us and hopek.johnston@cms.k12nc.us.
Hope Johnston, Extended Day Coordinator, Distance Learning Advisor for CMS, will enroll students
identified by your staff in need of NCVPS courses upon receipt of the attached enrollment form.
