 Bio-bug

o Processed sewage

o VW

o GENeco

 Subsidiary of British sewage treatment

o Prototype

o Methane produced through dewage though anaerobic digestion by

bacteria

o Methane treated by biogras upgrading

 CO2 being separated from the biogas

o Converted 2 liter 4 cylinder engine can reach speeds of 114

o Regular gas to start

o 70 households of human waste can power the car for a year

The Greasecar system is a two tank fuel system. The vehicles existing diesel

tank and filter will supply diesel fuel to the engine at start up and shut down. After

start up radiator fluid will transfer heat from the engine to the heat exchangers in

the Greasecar fuel system. These heat exchangers will heat the vegetable oil in

the fuel filter, lines and fuel tank. The heat will reduce the viscosity of vegetable

oil so that it is similar to diesel and can be injected into the engine properly.

When the vehicle is being shut down for a period long enough for the fuel to cool

the vegetable oil must be purged from the fuel system and replaced with diesel

for the next start up. Purging generally takes around 30 seconds and can be

done while driving with the push of the button on you Greasecar controls.

 No sulfur content in veg oil

 Veg oil plants absorb more co2 than what they release when burned,

carbon neutral

Cellulose – plant fiber

 1.3 billion tons of potential fuel

 Corn stalks, grass, trees

 To convert to fuel, it must be broken down to sugar

o Conflicts with cellulose’s very nature

 No commercial producers

 Can be continuously grown and harvested

 One of the cleanest burning materials

 Technology isn’t fully there

Sugar Cane

 Second to corn in useage

 Helped some countries become energy independent

 Not the easiest on a car’s engine

 Uses more of the plant than corn, but not everything’

 Downfall: can only be grown in warm places

Watermelon:

 Watermelon juice has a high concentration of directly fermentable sugars

o Could be fermented into ethanol

 Blemished/rotten watermelons could be reused as fuel or feed instead of

being put back in the ground

 Contain high amounts or lycopene and l-citrulline

o Important nutrients for humans

 potential
