• MMNs will Take medication histories from service users, obtain input
  from carers, and reference to BSMHT records and GP
• Assures appropriate prescribing early in admission
• Addresses diversity issues
• Educate service users to promote understanding and compliance
• Screening process for focussed pharmacy input
• Improvement of patient safety by reducing the incidence of supply or
  administration errors in hospital
• Better information for consultant reviews – i.e. effects, side-effects (role
  interrelation with Admission and Discharge Liaison Nurse)
• Focus on simplification of medication regimes and adherence to BNF
  and MHA
• MMNs to implement two levels of administration:
      (a) Administration of medicines by registered nursing staff
      (b) Self-administration medicines under supervision of registered
          staff
