Title of Request: Fan into Flame

Narrative description of presentation/discussion and details on what was approved

or unapproved in the request:

a. David Cooper presented information on Fan into Flame, as well as UCO as a

whole – they include all denominations.

a. Keller asked what they learn on these retreats that they can bring back

to the Student body.

i. Cooper stated that it is how Christians can come together from

different demoninations, it’s something different

b. Rapin asked if the amount requested includes lodging, food and

administration fees

i. Yes, and it is the precise number

c. Keller asked what new things they can bring back

i. Helps to further surrender anxiety, and themes involving

passages from the bible

d. Keller asked how they choose the four students that are going

i. They choose students with the most need

b. Keller believes that this is more for personal growth than for student body

growth

c. Rapin believes that this would be a good thing, to help students go, but since

there are others going, it wouldn’t be the end of the world

a. David Cooper presented information on the Campus Outreach Academy

a. Mike Rapin asked what the registration fee covers

i. Food, administration fee and housing fee

b. Robin Keller asked what would be brought back to campus from this

event

i. Gives philosophies on world views on personality while

comparing religion, humanism. Humanism takes members of

different denominations.

c. Keller asked what events they’ve brought to GVSU from going on

these retreats

i. Outreach

b. Moretz feels more comfortable with this one, because it is more educational

and has community outreach

c. Rapin also believes that this is a better idea than the previous event and can

help this community as a whole

d. Moretz asked if they wanted to fund them fully

a. Sarah Johnson presented information about the reenactment and the Civil War

Club

a. Derek Moretz asked how this will help the Civil War Club and GVSU

campus

i. Helps expand knowledge about specific battles, and helps with

outreach, and expand club membership

b. Mike Rapin asked why this event is going to be huge

i. The 150th is a big event

b. Rapin believes that paying for their own food and gas, and bringing eight

people, he likes this idea

c. Moretz believes that because this is a 150th anniversary, this will help the club

and help enthuse others in the club
