Coaches Code of
Conduct
As a coach for the Brownfield Recreation Department I, ________________________________, hereby
pledge the following:
I will place the emotional and physical well being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical
development levels that may be present in the same age group.
I will do my best to provide a safe environment for my players.
I will review and practice basic first aid principles needed to treat injuries for my players.
I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship for all my players.
I will provide a practice/playing environment that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol; and will
refrain from their use at all youth activities.
I will be knowledgeable of the rules of each activity that I coach, and I will teach these rules to my
players.
I will use the following coaching techniques:
Generous with praise when it is deserved
Consistent, honest, fair and just
Never verbally or physically abuse a player, official, or opponent
I will remember that I am a youth coach and that the game is for the children – not the adults.
I acknowledge that failure to adhere to the Coaches’ Code of Conduct may result in a recreation
committee hearing and/or disciplinary action
