Compliments
• Get out a new piece of paper
• Write down the name of every student in class –
leaving 1 line between each person.
• Think of at least one very positive/ nice thing to
say about them – write it down next to their name.
Do not share it with them for now.
• NOTE: make your statement positive, and
appropriate.
What is a compliment?
• say something to someone that expresses praise
• express respect or esteem for someone
• a remark (or act) expressing praise and admiration
• An expression of praise, congratulation or
encouragement
• to express a favorable opinion

• A compliment is when you say something nice

someone.
• People like to hear comments about their good
behavior, personality, character, how hard they
are working, or their
appearance.
• When we give compliments, we should always be
positive and always mean what we say.
When correctly used, compliments can:
• Motivate people to do their best
• Increase the self esteem of someone
• Encourage
• Help make someone's day or even life a
good one

I am Poster
• After you have finished with your list of compliments for your
classmates:
• Show me your list
• Get a piece of poster paper
• Decorate it:
• title it Your Name, I am…..
• Make it attractive
• Leave the center open and clear (space to receive
compliments)
• Use color
• Give it a thin boarder
• Include an image or two which reflects some positive
attribute of yourself.

Giving your Compliments
• Make sure you have a compliment to give every classmate.
• Make sure your compliments are:
• thoughtful, positive, affirming, school appropriate
• Neatly and attractively write your compliment on the posters
of each of your classmates
• State it short and sweet on the poster
• Friendly and outgoing
• Beautiful eyes
• Check off each name on your list as you give the compliment
to assure all are given.
• Initial your compliment with small initials
• Use color
• Write legibly
• Use correct spelling (use a dictionary if needed)
