Setting Up a Wordpress Blog on SEO Expert Domains www.seoexpertdomains.com
HU UH
Setting up your own blog using public domain code like that found at wordpress.org allows you to control it and it can’t be shut down on you if someone make a complaint about you to the corporate hosting company like blogger.com or wordpress.com. We have seen people get their blog shut down on those sites for no known reason. Some things are required to setup your own blog on a hosting site as opposed to one on a corporate site like blogger.com or wordpress.com. • A domain name for the blog • A hosting account to house it that includes the ability to create a MySQL database • An FTP (file transfer protocol) program. As of this writing a domain names on www.seoexpertdomains.com cost $7.49/per year and a hosting account cost as little as $3.99 per month. In this example we are going to use the domain name airsoftonlinepro.com. Here we have logged into our hosting account and clicked on “My Account” then clicked on “Hosting Account List”. Now we are going to open the hosting account we want to use by clicking on the word “open” under “control panel”.

Now we will be in our account where we can setup the directory for the domain name and the database for the blog. The control panel opens into the Hosting Control Center. First we will go to the “Settings” to create the hosting for the domain name. After we click on Settings we will click on the Domain Management icon to bring us to where we can create the hosting.
Now we will select the domain name from our list of domains on this server. Then select the option to enter the path or directory and name the directory “airsoft” then click “Add Domain” as seen below.
Our domain hosting should be queued up and will say “pending setup” and may take a little time. Now let’s go and created the database. Going back to the Hosting Control Panel we will click on Databases to see the following screen where we can create the MySQL database.
Now we will click on Create Database then enter the database information as seen below.
In this case we used the: Description: Demo Database MySQL Database/User Name: airsoftdemo Password: D3m0Databas3 Then click okay to create the database. Note: the Database and the User Name are the same in this example. In the database screen by clicking on the pencil icon we can see the database information below. Remember our password “D3m0Databas3”.
Here we get an additional piece of information the hostname which is p41mysql127.secureserver.net which we will save for later.
The next step is to download and unzip the Wordpress code from www.wordpress.org/download . In this case we are going to download the ZIP file and unzip it in a directory on our computer.

After we have unzipped the wordpress code the next thing to do is to FTP the files up to the server. I’m using FireFTP a free add-on to Firefox to upload the code.
On the left we have my local directory where we have unpacked the Wordpress code and on the right is our hosting account. In the hosting account we are going to open up the airsoft directory to put the code in that directory. We will then click on the arrow to tell the system to upload all the code from the local directory to the hosting directory airsoft. Now we need to wait while the code is uploaded onto the hosting server. Zzzz… Okay our code is uploaded to the hosting directory and our database is created now we need to go to our blog and configure it to use our database. In the browser we type www.airsoftonlinepro.com to go to our blog. Because we didn’t create a wp-config.php file it is going to create one for us. Click on the words “ create a wp-config.php file through a web interface ,” When the following screen appears.

There doesn't seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started. Need more help? We got it . You can create a wp-config.php file through a web

interface , but this doesn't work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create

the file.
In the next screen we will be prompted to enter all the information about our database, including the long host name, and then click “Submit”
Now we get this screen.
Click the words “run the install!” Next the Wordpress install will prompt us for information specific to our blog.
We enter in our Blog Title which in this case is “Demo Blog for AirsoftOnlinePro” and an email address for activity notification in the “your e-mail” field. Leave the box checked where it says “Allow my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Technorati”. Now click the button that says,” Install Wordpress”. Wordpress install now informs us of the admin username and password and where to login. Username: admin Password: 774983
Once we login the first thing we need to do is change our admin password to something we want to have. In our browser we will go to http://www.airsoftonlinepro.com/wpHU
login.php to login to the admin portion of the blog. Well use the username

and password that was returned when the blog was installed. The URL

www.airsoftonlinepro.com will take us to the blog itself.

Click on the line that says update your profile or change your password to be taken to where you can change your password.
