LOUFEST ANNOUNCES FINALISTS FOR HIGH SCHOOL BATTLE OF THE BANDS
LouFest has announced the finalists for its LouFest High School Battle of the Bands. Over a
dozen bands competed in the first round and LouFest organizers have selected the finalists.
They are: 21 Days, Addi Pietro & Missouri Mud, Belief, Clockwork, Dear Genre, Dubb Nubb,
Faux Pas, Feedback, Lost Continent, Rusty Pilgrim, Since 1902, and The Pretext.
The finalists will perform over two nights, May 7 and May 21, at Off-Broadway (3509 Lemp
Avenue, St Louis). Each band will play a 15-minute set in hopes of winning one of the six
available 30-minute slots on the AREA K side stage during the 2011 LouFest Music Festival in
August. Tickets for each night of competition are $5 and are available at offbroadwaystl.com or
at the door.
“We’re really excited about this competition,” said Brian Cohen, LouFest founder and organizer.
“The opportunity for teenagers to be part of a festival like this is pretty rare, but our goal is to be
involved in the local music scene on every level. Allowing high school bands to perform is our
way to help nurture the next generation of musicians in St Louis.”
To qualify for the competition, musicians had to live within thirty miles of St Louis and each band
had to have an average member age of nineteen years old or younger.
