 State the differences in acute and chronic wound healing

 Describe the role of ischemia in the development of pressure ulcers

 Identify differences of exposed tissue in different stages of pressure ulcers

 Discuss wound pain assessment, measurement and management strategies as they relate to wounds

 State the impact of peripheral artery disease on the healing of diabetic foot ulcers

 Define the anatomy and physiology underlying the causes of venous ulcers

 List the three areas of education that need to be reinforced with patients

 Describe the etiology of a fistula and identify the different surgical strategies to manage a fistula

 Assess fistulas for management options and identify nursing goals of fistula containment and treatment

 Identify pouching or negative pressure options for fistula management

 Identify and select the appropriate negative pressure wound therapy system to maximize patient outcomes

 Identify factors to be assessed in managing the care of a patient with a difficult stoma and describe appropriate nursing interventions

to assist in the resolution of common stomal and peristomal problems.

 Identify factors to be considered in selecting a pouching system
