iLife & iWork 09’ (Year One)
                                                2010-11
Course Theme - Awareness, Communication, and Activism

Rationale
In order to address the KMS School Focus Reading Goal, the nonfiction content that will serve as the focus for the course
will be Current Events. This will eliminate the duplication of topics from one cycle to the next, while also exposing students
to numerous resources, both electronic and print, at their appropriate reading level. Using proven resources at varying
reading levels allows students to research using appropriate resources, while also providing exposure to an array of
photography, composition, and layouts as they plan their course projects. Students will also explore, realize, and apply the
positive implications of social media to communicate a current issue facing their community, including a call for action, as
they create and maintain their own Wiki Portfolios.
