MANAGER, BRAND & CONTENT
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Tourism Calgary is Calgary’s Destination Marketing Organization. Representing the
tourism industry in Calgary and 500 member companies, Tourism Calgary brings Calgary
to the world and the world to Calgary for meetings and conventions, leisure travel, and
sport, culture and major events. Tourism in Calgary annually contributes over $1 billion
in economic impact to local economy.
THE POSITION
Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Brand & Content Manager is
responsible for the overall execution of Tourism Calgary’s brand, and assists with the
successful execution of all marketing initiatives.
The Brand & Content Manager is part of the Marketing department; a department that
exists to steward Tourism Calgary’s brand and ensure that the insights the brand is built
upon are understood and applied by the organization and the industry.
The Brand & Content Manager supports the development and implementation of the
programs, tools and assets that enable Tourism Calgary to effectively and consistently
apply the brand. This individual plays an integral role in defining, gathering and promoting
the significant travel experiences that bring Tourism Calgary’s brand to life.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead & manage the day to day brand activities (ensure consistency, develop industry
toolkit, new assets (video and imagery)
Assist/support regional, domestic and global marketing
Scoping the production of content and assets required to market effectively (gap
analysis)
Managing the execution of content needs with industry and agencies
Assigning key photographers/videographers responsible with executing Tourism
Calgary’s brand.
Influences partners to adopt Tourism Calgary’s content standards in their copy,
photo, video and social media and website.
Works collaboratively with the Creative Service unit responsible for the uploading and
management of images, video, and social media content in our digital image
management system, and the implementation of rights management standards.
Acts as a gatekeeper for all Brand content, online and offline.
Oversee writing/tone of Tourism Calgary’s website and all collateral at TC.
QUALIFICATIONS
Traditional and non-traditional marketing experience (minimum 3-5yrs)
Ability to think strategically, and develop content and editorial programs
Knowledge of branding and tourism branding or other brand experience
National and International tourism industry trends
Current knowledge and understanding of digital photography, videography, and
content for marketing channels
Strong story teller – comfort in writing and knows what ‘sells’ on all channels
Ability to write for different traveler types and different channels.
Knowledge of social media applications, e.g.: Facebook, Twitter, FLCKR, Blogs, etc.
Working knowledge of digital asset management processes and systems
Leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders & Agency of
Records.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead multiple projects
Innovative thinker; proficient in analysis and problem solving techniques
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Ability to manage and report on project budgets
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Remains composed during times of stress and change
