What Is A Student Assistance
Program?

 The Student Assistance Program is a
  way to help teenagers with school
  related problems.
      These problems include:
 Drug and/or alcohol abuse
 Social and emotional concerns;
  associated with mental health issues
                   Cont.
   The S.A.P. is also an
    intervening program.
   The S.A.P. is a process
    that makes it possible
    for school personnel to
    determine if a student
    is having problems.

   program?
A. S.A.P. is coordinated by
   teacher and administrators.
Q. Who can make a referral to the
 Student Assistance Program?
A. Referrals can be made by the
 school staff, a student’s parent or
 guardian, peers, or by the students
 themselves.
Q. When is a referral made to the
 Student Assistance Program?
A. Referrals are made when a
 student is not meeting academic
 success do to the possibility of
 emotional or social concerns.
Q. What procedure is followed
 after a referral is made?
A. The Core Team gathers
 information from the staff and
 have an interview with the
 student.
 Q. What is the Student Assistance
  Program’s policy regarding
  confidentiality?
 A. S.A.P. records are confidential. They
  are not to be filed with school records.
  Federal law prohibits the disclosure of
  drug and alcohol assessment results
  without written permission from the
  student and their parent/guardian.
