Introduction Welcome to the CBAP/CCBA application workbook v1.3

This workbook was originally developed in 2009 against BABOK v1.6 for my CBAP, and has been
progressively enhanced for subsequent releases of BABOK and feedback from people who have
found it useful in preparing their own applications.

Structure The workbook contains this guide, a control sheet, and one information sheet for each
application area. The critical sheets (where calculation is used) are Work Experience and
Knowledge Areas , described in detail below - all others are purely for collating the information
                        required.

Content of cells with shaded background is to be left as is, orange text denotes a formula, orange
background denotes a static value, and grey background is used for labels and notes.

Control For those of you who, like me, have to go back over ten years to gather sufficient hours, you will
probably find that you do not have detailed timesheets for the whole period. This means hours
have to be calculated from project start and end dates, so to make this a fair and defensible
approach, this workbook deliberately works to a conservative estimate, allowing for
interruptions and the full range of typical non-work days, as well as ensuring that you consciously
decide how much of your project time was on BA tasks.

Work Experience This worksheet is the guts of this workbook, with each project represented by a column (left-to-
right) and the key information being arranged across rows in sections (top-to-bottom)

Project Mainly a place to enter the text description of each project. As an aide memoire, the number of
projects is shown in the top row, and as you enter each in turn into the online application, claim
it with an 'X' on row 6 to see how far through you are.

Contact Details Just a place to enter the text contact details per project.

Organisation Detail Just a place to enter the text organisation details per project.

Project Time These are the key values, and you need to enter start date, end date, and approximate time as
BA on each project. You should avoid projects that overlap, unless you are going to adjust the
time as BA accordingly. If you had multiple projects running concurrently, enter those as a single
umbrella project and explain what you've done in the project description (as per the application
handbook). Be conservative as to proportion of time as a BA, although remember that
interruptions are already handled, however you should adjust down accordingly for any time
spent testing, training, project management, etc.

Percent by KA This is all calculated for you by your selections in the next section.

Tick List Simply type an 'X' against every task that you did on each project. The ratios and hours are
calculated from the weighting given by IIBA to each Knowledge Area in the CBAP exam.
Knowledge Areas This worksheet is calculated automatically from your entries on the ticklist above
