Wi‐Fi Enhanced Connectivity
Overview
When the user launches an data‐capable app (like the browser), it scans for available networks even when Wi‐Fi is off. Whether Wi‐Fi is on or off, user is prompted to
connect to ‘found’ Wi‐Fi networks. This automatic default is called Wi‐Fi Enhanced Connectivity.
Customer Benefits
Wi‐Fi Enhanced Connectivity is effortless to configure and offers a seamless transition between connections when moving from the VZW network to a Wi‐Fi
network.
• Offers a cost advantage to those who have usage‐based data plans by allowing users to choose Wi‐Fi over the VZW Network.
How It Works
The device automatically scans and offers user the option to connect to a Wi-Fi network when an Internet-capable app on the
device is launched.
When a new Wi-Fi access point (AP) is detected, a list of Wi-Fi networks is offered. Users can select a Wi-Fi connection or decline
the offer by choosing Turn off Wi-Fi but remind me later or Do not automatically turn on Wi-Fi.
1. Select desired Wi-Fi network 2. Enter Password and Connect

Top 10 Tips
1. Instant messages to and from the Illusion count as text messages. Please remind customers to purchase an add-on texting bundle if they intend
to use the IM function frequently.
2. Up to 5 Wi-Fi® devices can connect wirelessly to the Illusion to use its fast internet connection. To begin sharing internet, touch Applications >
Mobile Hotspot. Touch the checkbox next to Mobile Hotspot.
3. If the user wants to navigate through the Home screens faster than the usual swipe-scrolling method, the user can quickly skip between screens
by touching the screen number bubbles at the top of the display. (These bubbles only display briefly on the home screens during scrolling or
when the user touches the top of the screen.) Touch a bubble to jump to that screen without scrolling through all the in-between screens.
4. The user has two display options for the lock screen, either a puzzle screen or a simple swipe screen. The swipe screen simply displays arrows
signaling where to swipe the screen to unlock the phone. The puzzle screen requires the user to drag a puzzle piece into place to unlock the
screen. To select the lock screen style, touch Applications > Settings > Display Settings > Unlock Screen.
5. The Illusion has enterprise-ready features, such as corporate email, calendar, and contacts support; virtual private network support; hardware
encryption; and device management features that integrate with most current IT department policies.
6. Google Voice™ Actions let the user make calls, write memos and messages, get directions, open a website, and, of course, search the web
using only their voice. To use Voice Actions, on the home screen, touch the microphone in the Google™ search bar. Touch Speak Now and
speak the command.
7. Users can listen to genre and personalized radio stations through the Slacker app on the Illusion. More than 100 expert-programmed stations
are available, or users can create custom stations. And with an upgrade to Slacker Plus, users can cache a radio station to listen even when not
connected to a network, such as on an airplane. To get started with Slacker, touch Applications > Slacker.
8. Finding out what applications are using the battery can help users learn to improve battery life by eliminating or minimizing battery-draining apps
and features. To see current battery usage, listed by percentage, touch Applications > Settings > About Phone > Battery Use. This menu
also shows time elapsed since the last charge.
9. A handy widget called the Program Monitor lets users instantly see how many applications are running in the background, draining the battery
and using the processor. Use the Program Monitor widget to access the Active Applications window and exit any unwanted programs. To add
the widget to a home screen, touch Menu key > Add > Widgets > Program Monitor.
10. As the Illusion imports contacts from multiple sources, some duplicate contacts may appear in the phonebook. Instead of deleting duplicates,
they can be combined into one entry to preserve the unique information from each source. To combine two contacts into one entry, touch and
hold the first contact to access a pop-up menu. Select Join Contact and touch the second contact. The user can repeat this process to link
additional entries to the first entry.
