Airspace Infringement Initiative - Draft list of potential risk reduction measures

Airspace Infringement Safety Improvement Initiative

List of potential airspace infringement risk reduction measures

Note 1: The list of potential safety improvement actions is intended to facilitate the establishment of safety recommendations by airspace

infringement risk stakeholders for inclusion in the risk reduction action plan.

Note 2: The list of potential safety improvement actions integrates the best practices communicated to the initiative coordination team by

service providers and state authorities during the initiative development phase and the output from the dedicated risk analysis and survey

projects.

Note 3: To ensure a systemic and structured approach to risk reduction planning and for ease of reference the potential safety improvement

actions have been grouped in several categories using well known and recognised by the aviation community denotations of ANS components

and related notions.

Note 4: The categories are presented below in alphabetical order.

Note 5: The Status of each recommended improvement action is shown as “Draft”, “Candidate”, “Recommended” or “Approved” meaning

respectively:

 “Draft” – further feasibility study and development is considered necessary

 “Candidate” – R&D is not needed, action could be planned for implementation

 “Recommended” – the action has been proposed for inclusion in the Action plan

 “Approved” – the action is agreed for inclusion in the Action plan

Note 6: The priority of each recommended improvement action should be assigned as “Key”, “High”, “Medium”, or “Low” meaning respectively:

 “Key” – the action is considered to have essential risk reduction potential at pan-European level

 “High” - the action is considered to have significant risk reduction potential in certain types of airspaces

 “Medium” – the action is considered to have important risk reduction potential in parts of the European airspace

 “Low” - the action is considered to have limited risk reduction potential relevant to a specific operational environment

Note 7: Explanation of used acronyms is provided at the end of this document.
