ANNOUNCER: FORTY MILLION PEOPLE MOVED TO ANOTHER RESIDENCE IN 2006, ACCORDING TO THE U.S. CENSUS BUREAU. THAT REPRESENTS 14 PERCENT OF THE NATION’S POPULATION. SO, WHO IS MOVING? RENTERS ARE FOUR TIMES MORE LIKELY TO MOVE THAN HOMEOWNERS. THE UNEMPLOYED MOVE MORE THAN PEOPLE WHO ARE EMPLOYED. AMONG RACE AND ETHNIC GROUPS, HISPANICS HAD THE HIGHEST MOVING RATE. PEOPLE OUT WEST WERE MORE LIKELY TO MOVE THAN RESIDENTS OF OTHER REGIONS. AND WHERE IS EVERYONE MOVING? TWO-THIRDS OF ALL MOVERS STAYED WITHIN THE SAME COUNTY.
