Dear Mother-Members,

AIM for Healthy Living -- Jack and Jill Across America. Let’s get up and

MOVE Jack and Jill! Our aim is to live a healthier lifestyle. Being physically active is

National Program Director a key component to getting and staying healthy. Jack and Jill Across America is

Cheryl Beal Anderson

Mid-Western Region our second AIM For Healthy Living National Event and begins MARCH 6, 2011. It

npdcheryl@jack-and-jill.org is a 12-week event which will challenge our families to focus on physical activity as

we set goals, track our progress, and cover the country in activity steps with our

chapters. You’re not a runner? You don’t want to go to the gym? Not a

problem! You can convert various activities into steps. Attached you will find the

Mid-Atlantic Region following documents:

nrsallison@jack-and-jill.org • Jack and Jill Across America - Overview

• Jack and Jill Across America - Instructions

National Corresponding Secretary • Jack and Jill Across America – Family Activity Log

Jacqueline A. Nash

South Central Region Please read the documents carefully, along with the Chapter Guidelines document

ncsjacqueline@jack-and-jill.org that was distributed in December 2010. Please sit down with your family and

discuss the event and get started! A special thank you to the AIM for Healthy

National Treasurer Living Taskforce Co-Chairs for developing these documents.

Terri Parker

Eastern Region AIM for Healthy Living -- AIM To WIN Weight Loss Challenge. We are

ntterri@jack-and-jill.org off to a fantastic start! Following is a preliminary list of chapters that have

submitted their Chapter Log with team member roster as an indicator that they

National Editor are participating in the AIM to WIN Weight Loss Challenge. Yes, your National

Brenda Lacy-Davis Executive Board has formed a team as we are with you on this journey to better

Far West Region health. Thank you for your responses, emails, calls and anecdotal stories of

nebrenda@jack-and-jill.org

success and how you are overcoming challenges (i.e. getting members to write

their start weight - LOL). Please keep sending me your updates and testimonials.

You are amazingly creative – chapter newsletters on health and fitness, weigh-in

workout sessions in your mother’s meeting, hosting chapter health webinars.

AIM for Healthy Living -- National Day of Fitness. Please add this to your

chapter planning calendar NOW. You will want to begin your planning for the

April 2012 National Day of Fitness for your chapter, engage your community

partners and include youth from the community for an exciting day to focus on

health. More tools will be provided later, but I ask as your National Program

Director that you put this event on your chapter’s radar screen now as a priority.

AIM for Healthy Living -- Chapter Programming. THANK YOU for adding

one health/fitness topic to EACH grade group in your chapter this program year.

Our goal is to impact our children. Seize the opportunity to invite children from

the community to your programming activity.

Again, the AIM for Healthy Living national initiative is a grassroots program

designed to empower our families and communities to make their own health a

top priority. It is designed to address the various factors that lead to obesity,

unhealthy lifestyles, medical consequences and help reduce the disparities of high

morbidity/high-mortality diseases that impact disproportionately the African-

American community and children.

We owe a huge debt of thanks to the efforts of each Jack and Jill of America

Chapter President, Chapter Program Director and Chapter AIM for Healthy Living

Coordinators for their support of this initiative. Mother-members from all over

our organization are calling and asking, ‘How can we help NPD Anderson?’

THANK YOU!

A special thank you to the National Program Committee and the AIM for Healthy

Living Taskforce Co-Chairs Ayana Ball-Griffie and LaShawn Ware who have

committed themselves to this initiative in ways beyond measure. It is an honor to

work with these leaders! As always, I thank my National Executive Board and

Regional Director sisters for their support in making this national initiative a

success!

When we meet at the Mother’s Regional Conferences in July 2011 we will have an

Interim Reveal to assess our progress and set our vision on what we will

accomplish by the National Convention, July 2012! I look forward to seeing a

healthier you!
