Setup tab
Check to be sure you are using the file for the correct grade level.
Fill in the school year and the teacher's name.

Data Entry tab
Record all scores on this tab. The other tabs use scores from this tab and display it in different ways.
Type the students' names in the first column.
Record benchmark testing results in the shaded columns. The headings on the benchmark columns have the
name of the DIBELS prompt and Beg, Mid, or End.
Record progress monitoring results in the unshaded columns. The headings on the progress monitoring columns
have the name of the month and the number of the week.
To Alphabetize the students, open the Data Entry tab and press Ctrl-Shift-A. The students will be in alphabetical
order on all tabs. Students' scores will move with the student's names.
To Delete a student, open the Data Entry tab, click on the row you want to delete, and press Ctrl-Shift-D.
The student's name and scores will be deleted from all tabs.

Student Progress Monitoring tab
This is a view-only tab. Enter students' names and scores on the Data Entry tab.
Select a student from the drop-down list and view the student's progress monitoring charts. These charts are
similar to the hand-drawn charts on the front of the DIBELS Progress Monitoring test booklets.

  Aim Line
The aim line is green and is plotted from the student's earliest score (either benchmark testing or progress
monitoring) to the end-of-year benchmark goal. A green dot on the line indicates the target score. In some cases,
the line is plotted to the mid-year goal because of the instructional significance of that target. In other cases, the
aim line is a horizontal line (with the green target dot is at the beginning) because the student is expected to have
reached the target in the previous grade.

If a student's earliest score is above the benchmark target for the grade, the aim line is a horizontal line at the
level of the benchmark target. The line will not change, even if later scores are below the target.

  Scores
Benchmark testing scores are hollow squares and show the score above or below the square.
Progress Monitoring scores are solid squares and do not have the score displayed.
Scores on or above the aim line are blue; scores below the aim line are red. This is true even when the score is
very close to the aim line and makes it easier to identify when a student has three consecutive scores below the
   aim line.

Instructions for using the DIBELS Score Manager spreadsheet, page 3

Class Progress Monitoring tab
This is a view-only tab. Enter students' names and scores on the Data Entry tab.
In the drop-down menu, select the DIBELS prompt you would like to view.
Benchmark testing results are shown in the columns labeled Beg, Mid, and End.
Progress monitoring results are shown in the columns with labeled with the month and the week number.
A green background indicates a score that is at or above the benchmark goal for that DIBELS prompt in that
    testing period.
A yellow background indicates a score in the strategic range for that DIBELS prompt in that testing period.
A red background indicates a score in the intensive range for that DIBELS prompt in that testing period.
Colors for FALL progress monitoring scores (September through December) are based on mid-year targets.
Colors for SPRING progress monitoring scores (January through June) are based on end-of-year targets.

Class Benchmark Scores tab
This is a view-only tab. Enter students' names and scores on the Data Entry tab.
Testing periods when a prompt is not normally used for benchmark testing are shaded in grey. You may still enter
scores for those testing periods. The colors will be based on the targets for a neighboring testing period.

The grey bar graph shows each student's most recent benchmark testing score. The right end of graph (the
maximum length for the grey line) is the target score for that school year and is shown by the dark grey bar at the
top of the chart. The bar graph helps to identify the work remaining to assure that each student has met the target
by the end of the year. It does not show when a student has scored above the target. That information is shown on
    the Student Progress Monitoring tab.
