Recognized by the Indiana Student Achievement Institute
(Name of Your School) was recognized by the Indiana Student Achievement Institute as a “Top Gainer” school
during the Indiana Conference on Learning on January 31, 2008 in Indianapolis. The award is based on the school’s
improvement in ISTEP scores between 2004 and 2006.

The Indiana Student Achievement Institute (InSAI) awarded the “Top Gainer” designation to schools who reached
targeted gains in the percentage of passing ISTEP+ tests over a two year period. The gain or loss in ISTEP between
2004 and 2005 was averaged with the gain or loss in ISTEP between 2005 and 2006. Low-performing schools were
expected to show greater improvement than high-performing schools. From 2003 to 2005, the average gain in
ISTEP+ at (Name of Your School) was _____%.

Sue Reynolds, Executive Director of the Indiana Student Achievement Institute stated, “The faculty and community
members associated with (Name of Your School) have worked hard to raise student achievement. They are to be
commended for their initiative and their dedication to the community’s young people.”

Leading the improvement initiative at (Name of Your School) were (names of your steering team members). These
individuals attended leadership training sessions conducted by InSAI over the past ___ years. Between training
sessions, they have facilitated school improvement activities with the student body, faculty, and community
representatives.

The improvement process used by the Indiana Student Achievement Institute, called Vision-to-Action, includes
visioning for student success, using data to define and monitor change, conducting a force field assessment to
identify local areas interfering with learning, and developing high-leverage strategies for improvement. At (Name of

The Indiana Student Achievement Institute (InSAI) is a non-profit organization that assists schools with the process
of change for the purpose of raising student achievement and closing achievement gaps. InSAI uses a vision-based
and data-driven approach to school improvement with an emphasis on involving all faculty, all students, and the
community in guided discussions related to student learning, educational practices, and achievement. All InSAI
initiatives are based on a sound professional development design with significant technical support for schools.
InSAI has been doing the work of school improvement since 1996 and has worked with over 364 elementary,
middle, and high schools in Indiana and has served as a consultant for school districts throughout the country.
