Program Overview –

Kindergarten PE spends a lot of time developing gross motor
skills using many different manipulatives like soccer balls, playground balls, bean bags,
balloons, etc. This is usually done in a station format. Quite a bit of time is also spent
developing hand-eye and foot-eye coordination as well as body awareness. We play a
variety of chasing games and spend some time doing whole group activities like
parachute.

Grades 1 & 2 continue with many similar activities in station format, but with more
emphasis on fine tuning their abilities. We spend time on throwing and catching with the
focus on being a good and helpful partner. We also work on balance and begin learning
about the importance of fitness. Some time is spent on team games with an introduction
to games like kickball and capture the flag.

Grades 3-5 spend a significant amount of time learning rules and all that goes along with
playing with a group or on a team. We still continue skill work in a station format, but
much more time is spent on different games and activities that are of interest to them.
These grade levels participate in the President Challenge fitness testing program, and are
presented with a lot of information about health and fitness that prepares them for the 5th
grade CBA.

Shoes/Clothes- In order to be most successful in PE classes, students must wear
appropriate clothes and shoes. Please no dresses, skirts, tight pants, or
