May 2009 – Present The Moving Picture Company
Render Wrangler
My responsibilities here include managing the render farm of
1200 plus machines and all the running jobs on it. As a

communicator as I work alongside the artists and help them
complete their visual effect shots. In this job

I’ve also had the opportunity to learn about and work with
people from all areas of the production pipeline.
May 2005 – May 2009 Kingsmead Leisure Centre
My current position here is a lifeguard with my main
responsibility being to ensure the safety of bathers in and
around the pool. As well as first aid and life saving skills it’s
also taught me to be a real team player and has made me
proficient in dealing with all kinds of situations.
June 2006 – Jan 2007 KJC Microwaves Ltd
This was a contracted job which involved me putting together a
multimedia presentation that demonstrated to a client two
designs of antennas being tested against each other. It also
involved going out to the test centres and recording both sound
and video. The project showed me how my skills in multimedia
can also be applied and successfully used in a non-media based
industry.
Interests:
I’m a very active person and enjoy a lot of sports including basketball, football,
swimming, tennis, badminton and going to the gym. I have also done canoeing, rock
climbing and caving. I will try anything once.
As well as watching and producing film I also enjoy staging live events. Until recently
I was actively involved with a church group who put on multimedia styled
presentations. We took a current issue (usually to do with pop-culture) and related it
in an interesting way (use of music, film clips, images etc) to the gospel. I was
involved in all areas of production from the research and publicity right through to
the staging of the event on the night.
I have a real passion for watching films, ranging from animated shorts and
independent films (including fan films) to big blockbusters and main stream titles. I
also enjoy listening to a lot of soundtracks from movies, whether I’ve seen the film
or not.
I have an active interest in models and model making. I particularly like Hornby train
sets as they have such a wide and detailed collection of models that you can build
any scenic design you’re able to imagine. I would like to extend my interest to
building models completely from scratch like they do for miniature sets in films,
giving me complete freedom in design and scale. I appreciate having something real
that you can touch rather than always creating something digitally.
