					Admissions Policy.

A parent who wishes to enrol their child in Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí must first complete an enrolment form
and forward it to the school office. On receipt of the enrolment form the school principal shall write to the
parents acknowledging the receipt of the letter and informing the parents of the status of the application.
The following policy shall determine the status of each application:

Children will be accepted for a Junior Infant class on a ‘first come first served’ basis up to a maximum of
30 children. In September prior to the child entering Junior Infants all parents who have been offered a
place in the school will be asked to confirm their intention to send their child to Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí.
Failure to confirm this will forfeit the place. In March prior to the child entering Junior Infants parents who
have been offered a place in the school will be asked to confirm their intention to send their child to Scoil
na gCeithre Máistrí by placing a deposit on their school uniform. Failure to confirm this will forfeit the
place.

After 30 children have been accepted for a particular year, children wishing to enrol will be placed on a
waiting list for the class. Places on the waiting list will be offered, in order, as vacancies arise.

Once enrolled the parents will receive a written confirmation of a place being available for their child or
their child being on the waiting list. Once a place becomes available for a child on the waiting list his / her
parents will receive written confirmation of this.

Parents will be encouraged to enrol younger brothers and sisters in the school as soon as their eldest child
has been enrolled. They will be encouraged through:

 The Opening Meeting in March.
 Circulars in September and March of their first year in school.

The Board of Management will endeavour to limit each class to 30.

Should a vacancy arise during the school life of a class places on the waiting list will only be offered if the
class size falls below 28.

Children:
     (a) Who move to the area and who have been enrolled in a Gaelscoil in their previous town or
     (b) Whose parents / guardians become permanent members of staff of Scoil na gCeithre Máistrí
will automatically be accepted into the appropriate class. If they have younger brothers and sisters who are
pre school age they will be automatically accepted for the appropriate year.
