People Serving People
2009 Annual Report
Programs
People Serving People (PSP) is the largest provider of emergency shelter for families in Minnesota. 2009 brought more families and children
seeking shelter to PSP. Families arrived in need of stronger community connections, dedicated advocates, employment, stable housing, and
a chance at a better future. On an average night, two-thirds of our guests are children.
The PSP facility features 99 motel-style emergency units with an average stay of 46 days, 10 two-bedroom Supportive Housing apartments
with open ended leases, and a cafeteria serving three hot meals daily. Meeting the basic needs of shelter and food is only the beginning
for the average of 319 individuals calling PSP home every day.
Our model of centralized delivery of services and housing in one facility is recognized nationally as the most efficient and successful design
to connect families with the resources they need most. We provide families with the resources necessary to individualize
a program that fits their needs and gets them back on their feet through a combination of in-house services and other community service
providers on-site. PSP on-site programs include Early Childhood Development, Family Advocacy, Workforce Development Training and many
other services.
Investing in families today curbs long-term costs tomorrow. People Serving People is a 501(c)3 supported through corporate
sponsorships, county partnerships, grants and gifts from individual donors.
