fractions.

Procedures:
1. Open the Microsoft Word template.
2. Save in student folder.
3. Use the Fill Color icon on the toolbar to color the triangle.
4. Paint the top half of every square (top triangle) one color.
5. Paint the other half a different color.
6. Compare fractions:
Small squares = 1 of 2
Larger squares = 4 of 8
Whole page = 16 of 32
7. Write fractions showing equivalents of one-half.
8. Print.
Assessment:
Teacher will grade the printed copy of the quilt to assess equivalent fractions.
Modifications:
Students could be given a template with fewer squares.
Extensions:
Make templates for students using different fractions for the quilt pattern.
Create a Microsoft Power Point presentation to reflect equivalent fractions.
