WHEN SHOULD I MOVE MY DEPENDENTS TO MY FIRST DUTY STATION?:

Duty aboard the USCGC Osprey is exciting, challenging, and rewarding. But you must ensure that before
you get underway, your dependents are safe and secure. In almost all cases if you work closely with your
sponsor and make the necessary plans and arrangements, you can successfully move your dependents with
you when you initially report. However, that decision should only be made after carefully weighing all the
available facts.

IS IT ADVISABLE TO BRING DEPENDENTS ALONG WHEN REPORTING?

We recommend you call and arrange a tour for the afternoon before reporting in. This affords your loved
ones the opportunity to tour the unit with you, we can better plan for your arrival, and help answer their
questions as well. Also, you are more than welcome to bring your dependents along with you when you are
reporting in on your first day. But please remember that the actual check-in process will take most of the
day. So after the initial welcoming we will need them to depart so we can start your indoctrination program
and carry out the daily routine. Visiting hours are also authorized after the normal workday.
