HEADNOTE [In thousands (23,579 represents 23,579,000). As of September 30. VetPop2007 is the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) latest official estimat and projection of the veteran population. It is based on detailed tabulations of Census 2000 data (prepared for the VA Office of the Actuary by the Census Bureau) and on recent American Community Survey data. VetPop2007 also uses administrative data and projections of service member separations from active provided by the Department of Defense (the Defense Manpower Data Center and th Office of the Actuary), as well as VA administrative data on veterans benefits
