Structure
• Writers often organize nonfiction, such
as textbooks, magazine articles, and
nonfiction books, in a special way.
– This kind of organization is called text
structure
– Sequence is a text structure
• Presents information in time order
• Describes events in history
• Used for directions and steps in a process
SKILL: Sequence
• The order in which events happen
PREVIEW & PREDICT
When I say “Go”, take 1 minute to
preview the illustrations.
Ask yourself:
– What part of the text are nonfiction?
– What parts are more like a fiction story?
On your index card, write 1-2 predictions
and questions about the story. After we
listen to the selection, we will see if your
questions were answered.
