What is the Internet
A computer network is a group of
computers linked together by
cabling,Dial-up,DSN, T-1 lines
The internet is a network of networks
an internetwork
Every new connection can bring with it
hundreds of computers and thousands
of users.
Accessing the Internet
Protocol is a communications standards to
which all types of computers on a network
adhere to.
TCP/IP- Transmission Control
Protocol/Internet Protocol
Several types of access providers – Corporate
network,Free-Net (Community Network) and
ISP – Commercial Internet service provider.
What is an IP Address
When your are connected to the internet,
your computer must be uniquely identified.
Each computer or host has an IP number
which consists of four sets of up to three
digits each separated by periods.
194.236.32.0, 38.10-212.232 are examples of
an IP Address.
What is the World Wide Web
WWW- A system that’s gathers internet
resources from all over the world into pages
that you can VIEW on your computer.
Originally developed to help scientists in
Switzerland exchange data and research
material with other scientists.

task. We have all spent countless hours
searching a large number of pages
(HITS) and had very little to shoe for
our efforts.
