A magnificent campus, a place of expensive buildings and much prestige;
that’s what everyone saw. These, however, are only on the outside. As Mix gazed
from a hill beside on e of the fields, he saw the place for what it truly was;
dangerous. Sometimes he though his “friends” were free, thought they saw what he
did, but he couldn’t talk about it because of security but he always discovered that
the seemingly invisible boxes with two red lights, like evil eyes still held fast.
Looking back, he remembered being trapped, and the absolute sense of safety it had
given him. He had a strong allergic reaction to something he ate one day and not
being one to show pain, he managed to wander off and hide. When he awakened, it
was the middle of the night, and he felt different. That was the first time he noticed
it, he saw the little black box with the two red lights staring at him, but he knew
what it was, it was made by mind systems inc. and slowly as he sat there trying to
regain motion in his limbs, he had figured it all out.
He had gone through the next two months finding all of these boxes, making
a mental map of where they all were, and this was the day. He looked down into his
closed palm at the remote detonator with all of the little switches and buttons, and
though, “Ah, the wonders of E-bay.”
