The problem addresses the need for
development of a unique processing
technique capable of fabricating near
net shaped parts with tailored porosity
for future use as living tissue implants.
Tailored porosity (pore size, shape, and
volume) is very important to modern tissue
engineering as it helps in:
Tissue ingrowth into pores
Matching the properties of engineered
scaffolds with that of the host tissue
Vascularization (new blood vessels)
Proper attachment of implant
