She is a very passionate and caring nurse. She has great skills and knowledge and is a great leader. She goes the extra mile for her
patients and is wonderful resource nurse also.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
I believe that Kari is a great nurse and also a terrific manager. She is very caring towards her staff and patients. She is always willing
to help out when needed. She is a great asset for the company and to the profession. She has been the best manager that I have ever
worked for.
3. Give an example of how your nominee has shown leadership through mentoring, or served as a role model for others.
Kari is an excellent resource for me and for the rest of the infusion team. She is willing to help her staff when needed. She is a definite
leader and I am proud to work for her.
4. Was there a specific event that prompted you to nominate this nurse? If so, please tell your story.
Kari is always letting her staff know that we do a great job and that she appreciates all of our hard work...It's time for her to get some
recognition for all of her hard work and compassion towards her patients and staff. I just wanted to tell her thank you for being such a
great nurse, leader and most of all a friend.

Kari does a great job managing her patients and knows the background and information for each active case. She is able to identify
the best caregiver for each patient's individual needs. She organizes the care for each patient and ensures that none are missed and that
all get the best care possible. She shows a great deal of compassion for her staff as well as the patients they serve.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
She displays high value for each patient and each of the nurses with whom she works. She is a leader in the company and continually
works to improve herself and her staff.
3. Give an example of how your nominee has shown leadership through mentoring, or served as a role model for others.
She mentors each of the nurses she manages on an ongoing basis. She has a genuine concern for each nurse and a love for patient care.
This shows in her daily work.
4. Was there a specific event that prompted you to nominate this nurse? If so, please tell your story.
Kerri's daily work is consistent and it would be difficult to come up with one particular instance. She goes above and beyond each day
for each patient.

Kari does so many good things for her employees and patients, it is hard to think of just one thing.She always puts patient care at the
top of her list.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
She studied and passed the CRNI exam without any problems and is always available to assist nurses with education regarding
infusion.

Kari takes on-call for the nurses if they are ill and even works on the weekends to fill in when there are shortages.

She is always wanting what is in everyone's best interest
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
She is an all around go getter. She works well with the pt's and families when they are upset. She is able to change their negative
conversation into a positive conversation

She never has a negative attitude and she is always putting other before herself.
4. Was there a specific event that prompted you to nominate this nurse? If so, please tell your story.
We have been very short staffed at work especially in the last few months for various reasons. She has been very willing to put her
leadership role duties aside to help with the nurses day to day work. She always works to help us succeed. She never wants us
coworkers to feel as though they are failing, over our heads etc. What a great nurse, boss and overall person. We don't know what we
would do without her

Kari is very passionate about her work as a nurse. She is kind and caring. She currently has a patient that she has shoveled the walk
for her so the patient could make it to her appointments. If Kari hadn't shoveled the snow, the patient would not have been able to get
out of the house as she is unable to move snow herself.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
She is a great active listener. She shows empathy and understanding with her patients which builds a great trusting bond between her
and the patient. That bond allows the care for the patient to be at an optimal level.
3. Give an example of how your nominee has shown leadership through mentoring, or served as a role model for others.
Kari has never been judgemental or pushed her opinions on others. She is great at guiding nurses and students through a series of
events so they feel they are in control while she is there to back them up. She does not enable her peers but rather guide them to a
solution that works for everyone.
4. Was there a specific event that prompted you to nominate this nurse? If so, please tell your story.
There is not one incident that stands out because Kari takes each patient she takes care of as one of her own. She goes above and
beyond with all her patients on a regular basis.

Kari is always willing to assist with seeing patients, especially when we have staffing shortages. She goes above and beyond for
patients (IE; shovels their walks for patients who are unable to)
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
Kari is very knowledgeable in the infusion industry and always takes time to educate other nurses.

Kare's manager skills have grown over the past few years and she mentors her employees daily

No one event prompted this. she is always volunteering to be on committees.

1. Describe how your nominee has shown concern for humanity.
Kari is a very caring and compassionate person. She shows equal concern for both her patients and employees. She is always willing
to lend an ear one is upset and tries to find the positive in any situation.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
Kari's most significant contibution is to diffuse difficult situations. She is able to remain calm to while trying find a winning solution
for her patients and employees.
3. Give an example of how your nominee has shown leadership through mentoring, or served as a role model for others.
Approximately a year ago, I was promoted to an RN team leader position. Kari has always been a great mentor for me as I
transitioned into my current role. She is very willing to assist me in any way possible. She has been persistent in helping me achieve
my goal of becoming a CRNI this spring. I feel she is a great role model for all of Iowa nurses. She is a very diligent worker,
efficient and never loses focus of our company's mission which is to "improve the health of our community through healing, caring
and teaching."
4. Was there a specific event that prompted you to nominate this nurse? If so, please tell your story.
Kari has a long term patient which she continues to see. Kari has always tried to improve this patient's health even though she can be
noncompliant her condition has slowly declined over that last several years. Kari has utilized every avenue possible to keep this
patient at home in the face of a chronic illness. She has called the patient to check in on her during snow storms just to make sure she
is doing ok. She has even recruited a couple of co-workers to help her go shovel this patient’s walk during an especially snowy storm
just so her patient did not have to get out and exert herself and possible injure herself in the process.

Always goes over and above for both her patients as well as her staff.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
Her clinical skills. Is one of the best Infusion nurses I have ever seen.

Works many extra hours to make her patients safe, well taken care of as well as helping her staff to do the same with their patients.

Even though she has many duties as a manager, still carries a couple of long term patients of her own.

1. Describe how your nominee has shown concern for humanity.
Kari is an awesome example of compassion and care in the nursing profession. she is our manager, however, she sees patients
whenever it is needed and knows about every patient in our infusion department. Kari has continued to case manage a patient whom
she has taken care of for years prior to assuming her management role. She has gone to this patient's house and shoveled the snow in
her driveway, taken her a space heater and multiple other acts of kindness to help a patient in need. She is always willing to pitch in
and help us direct caregivers at her own expese. I.E. She stays late and works on weekends so she can do her work since she has
helped us during the week to do ours.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
Kari is a team player and is always putting the patient and her employees' needs before her own.
3. Give an example of how your nominee has shown leadership through mentoring, or served as a role model for others.
Kari always does the right thing because it is the right thing to do and not because it is easier. Doing the right thing is not always
popular but is is admirable.Kari is a good leader in that she includes us her employees in decisions that will affect us. She helps me
and my co-workers to become better nurses by holding us to the top standards as she does with herself. She is encouraging, a great
listener, and is very empathetic. Kari cares about taking care of her patients first, employees second and our company third. Kari has
2 children and a husband and balances very well. She is always willing to listen when we need to vent and she is very non-
judgmental. she is much appreciated in my day to day life and I know many others. Kari is calm and comforting by nature and it is
very nice to have a manager like this in this crazy world of health care!

I have never had a boss who is as wonderful as Kari and when I heard about this I knew she deserved it and it was a way I could show
her how much she is appreciated.

1. Describe how your nominee has shown concern for humanity.
She is a very personable and caring nurse. She always reaches out to help anyone in need and fills in where ever she can to help when
the nursing staff has ill employees or is short handed. She handles all of these things with very little stress and always keeps her
composure.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
Her willingness to take new nurses that are highered under her wing to make them the highly qualified nurse that she is.
3. Give an example of how your nominee has shown leadership through mentoring, or served as a role model for others.
She is the manager of all the infusion home care nurses. She has managed to train all of the nurses to do the proper documentation and
the proper care to take care of the infusion Home Care area. She works with the out lying nursing agencies that we hire if our
customer is out of our area. She is very detail oriented and also a very caring individual.
4. Was there a specific event that prompted you to nominate this nurse? If so, please tell your story.
My husband has lung cancer and she stepped in when my husband nurse was ill and unable to make it to see him. She made him feel
right at home and very relaxed under the situation that he was put under.

Kari is extremely passionate with her patients. Always goes above and beyond to make sure they are well cared for even going as far
as shoveling a patients walk and gone to visit a patient in the hospital 2 hours away on a weekend. One patient even has Kari's
childrens pictures up on her fridge.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
Her compassion towards her patients and her employees. Never says "no". Always striving to improve self and others.
3. Give an example of how your nominee has shown leadership through mentoring, or served as a role model for others.
Kari manages 12 nurses. She has created a culture of excellence through teamwork. She is the first to jump in and help when needed
and has even taken call and worked weekends extra to help her staff. Leads by example.

1. Describe how your nominee has shown concern for humanity.
Even though Kari is in a manager role and is very busy with the day to day operations of the department, she always makes time to
assist her staff in seeing patients. She will come in on weekends and stay late during weekdays to make home visits. Patients receiving
the care they need in a timely manner is of utmost importance to Kari.
2. What do you consider your nominee’s most significant contribution to the nursing profession?
In addition to the patient care and mentoring comments already mentioned, Kari is involved in several committees focused on
improving internal processes and patient care. Whether the committee is a part of the agency's strategic plan or whether it is a process
improvement project or an internal committee focusing on patient and employee customer satisfaction, Kari is always willing to be on
the committee. She is also willing to test new products and provide feedback to the pro's and con's of the product - looking to improve
a patient's experience with our services.
3. Give an example of how your nominee has shown leadership through mentoring, or served as a role model for others.
Kari provides inservice trainings to internal and external nurses on PICCs, Pumps and Ports. Her co-workers use her as a resource for
infusion related coverage and treatment questions. Besides working in home health, Kari manages staff at two outpatient infusion
centers. She has also put in the extra effort to get and maintain her CRNI certification and encourages her staff to do the same.
4. Was there a specific event that prompted you to nominate this nurse? If so, please tell your story.
Not necessarily a specific event. What prompts my nomination is Kari's experience and knowledge with infusion patients, as well as
her great attitude. She is very positive and professional which makes her a very trusted and respected co-worker. Her excellence
makes her not only an outstanding nurse and leader, but a vital part of a winning team!
