Announcements for December 1 NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS JUNIORS & SENIORS: In an effort to recruit more students for the UM College Ahead program, the University of Montevallo is willing to offer more flexible course times. Don’t let this opportunity pass! Speak with your counselor if you are interested. Remember, GRC students are entitled to one tuition-free course. TENNIS Tennis players need to turn in their forms and spirit pack deposit to room 136 (Rodenberry/Montgomery) ASAP. If you haven’t picked up a cookie dough fundraiser then you need to come by room 136 and pick one up today. PROM COMMITTEE Prom Committee Meeting..December 13..after school..room 230 STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL TICKETS ON SALE Tickets for the Fourth Annual Student Film Festival are on sale in the lunchroom. Come out and see the 5-minute short films produced by the Broadcast Production classes. There are about 20-25 films so there is a little something for everyone! The film festival will be Monday at 6:30 in the auditorium. Tickets are $3 in advance and $5 at the door. SENIORS SENIOR VIDEO PICTURES It’s time to start bringing in pictures for the Senior Video. The first deadline will be for baby pictures and elementary school pictures. The deadline will be December 16 (the Friday before Christmas holidays begin). Please mark pictures with your name and 4th period teacher. You can also bring them in on a disc. Other than the baby pictures, these should be group pictures that represent the class of 2012. Pictures can be turned in to a THS TV staff member or Room 315 during 1st, 4th or 7th period ONLY. RUNNING ANNOUNCEMENTS JUNIORS AND SENIORS PROM TICKETS ON SALE NOW and through January 13th for $50. Juniors and Seniors enrolled at Thompson High may purchase tickets from Miss Rinehart in room 217. Please come before or after school. SOPHOMORES Sophomores are allowed to begin taking classes online in the Spring for a dual enrollment program at the University of Alabama! If you are interested in taking online courses at the University of Alabama to receive college credit, contact the university by visiting the website www.uaearlycollege.ua.edu or call 877-823-8759. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information! Sign up to receive text messages on updated school events from your Counselor, Mrs. Payne. Your English teachers have a hot pink laminated instruction guide on how to receive her messages. Also, leadership opportunities are coming up. KEY CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS PROJECT SUMMARY: o TMS basketball tournament (need about 15) will come up in the next couple of months. o December 3rd, Salvation Army Distribution Center Event (need about 20) We will leave here about 8AM and get back about 1PM. o Throughout December, you can also volunteer to ring bells at local Walmarts and Belk. o December 7th- St. Jude Address Party- 5 hrs given for completion of fundraiser. BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAM If anyone is interested in participating on the Battle of the Books team, please stop by the Library Media Center to check out a book. There are 6 books that students must read between now and January 2012. There will be a brief meeting after school in the Library Media Center on Wednesday, December 7th for those students who are interested. The titles for this year: All Over But the Shoutin’, Diamond Ruby, The Mockingbirds, My Life The Theater and Other Tragedies, Divergent, and Pathfinder. STUDENT SERVICES SMALL GROUPS Student Services is going to start offering small groups during 7th period. There will be slips and a box in Student Services for you to sign up or if you have questions see your counselor. Groups will vary in duration depending on the type. As we begin different groups we will update you with these choices.
