Opalesque Alternatives Report Findings Backed by AAA A new report from Opalesque has issued guidance on launching an alternative investment strategy for a mutual fund, and has attracted support from Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA). Boston, MA, US., December 10, 2011 -- A new report from Opalesque has issued guidance on launching an alternative investment strategy for a mutual fund, and has attracted support from Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA). The main findings of the report, entitled 'Regulated Alternative Funds: The New Conventional,' was that attitudes to alternative strategies have changed hugely as a result of the ongoing economic crisis. The report found that over $58 billion was invested in regulated funds that used alternative strategies in the first half of this year, which AAA claims demonstrates how these strategies are becoming the new mainstream. AAA is an advocacy group in favor of alternative and ethical investment strategies. Its analysis partner, Anthony Johnson, said, “Opalesque’s latest report highlights why the alternative approach to investment has become so important to both individuals and institutional investors in recent years. “Putting cash in alternative asset classes that are not affected by wider economic trends is vital in order to reduce the exposure to risk in a portfolio,” he added. The report also found that the growth in alternatives is also being driven by the desire among investors to reduce the volatility within their investment portfolios, so that they can be sure they will not lose disproportionate amounts when the stock markets falter as they have on several occasions in the past year alone. AAA added that the ongoing crisis in the Eurozone has meant that the equities market has lost much of its viability for many investors. The economic crisis has also prompted more people to seek out responsible and ethical investments, such as those that help communities in developing countries through impact investing. Investment opportunities that are also environmentally responsible, such as the forestry investment products offered by Greenwood Management in Brazil, for example, are also growing in popularity. Mr Johnson added, “We believe that if investors continue to increase their interest in alternatives, and particularly in social and environmental investment projects, the likelihood of another market crash could fall.” Contact: Anthony Johnson Alternative Asset Analysis 71 Commercial St Boston, MA 02109-1320 UNITED STATES 617-939-9596 info@alternativeassetanalysis.com http://www.alternativeassetanalysis.com
