Experience an evening of original works choreographed by graduate students, as

The University of Utah Department of Modern Dance presents, The Other Side of

Human. This concert features the premier of six works that are the culmination

of both research and the creative process of dance choreography.

The Other Side of Human evokes curiosity about the shadowed aspects of

humanity using movement and text. Each artist has chosen to explore basic, yet

integral human concepts as a means to reconnect to the threads of humanity and

to fight to unveil our own existence. The choreographers Belle Baggs, Li-Sha

Niu, Emmy Barker, Efren Corado, Erica Womack, and Elizabeth Stich, explore,

challenge and question themes of empathy, group consciousness, the subjective

and objective self, loneliness, self identity, and metaphor. This concert features

students from the department and dancers from the Salt Lake City community

with lighting by James Larsen.

Performances are held at the Hayes-Christensen Theater at the Marriott Center

for Dance (U of U campus, 330 South 1500 East, Salt Lake City, just west of the

Marriott Library), on November 11, 12 & 13, 2010. Performances begin at

7:30pm. Student tickets are $7 each, and general admission is $10. Tickets are

available through the Kingsbury Hall Ticket office at (801) 581-7100, online at

www.kingtix.com or at the Marriott Center for Dance box office one hour prior to

the performance. For more information call (801) 581-7327 or visit us at
