Modern Religion II

Edited by Silvia Veličová

2006, Institute for State-Church Relations, 241 pp.

ISBN 80-89096-26-3

The continuing search for new forms of religiosity in modern societies. This time about the

French laïcité, the background of furthering laicism in opposition to the Catholic worldview,

about the modern ideology of human rights, the religious approach to the term sect, the role of

religion in ethnopolitical conflicts, relations of churches in the Czech Republic to the state,

about modifications and the status of Russian new religious movements in the society and the

state ... and once more, about a huge amount of causalities. Slovak - English version with one

Spanish exception. (2006)

Social Aspect of Religiosity

Edited by Lucia Macháčková

2003, Institute for State-Church Relations, 206 pp.

ISBN 80-89096-09-3

This anthology of studies aims, partly, at communicating opinions and disputations by both

foreign and domestic experts, concerning activities of churches and religious societies for the

benefit of those caught in need, and, partly, at contributing to the manifold efforts for

understanding in the contemporary multicultural and multireligious world. Bilingual, English-

Slovak version.

Modern Religion

Edited by Silvia Jozefčiaková

2005, Institute for State-Church Relations, 344 pp.

ISBN 80-89096-23-9

The goal of this project is searching for answer to a question: 'Does religiosity peter out of

modern society or just gains new forms'? We are going to investigate how traditional religions

adapt to postmodern time, what kind of religiosity (not closed to traditional religious forms)

we can find nowadays. A lot of present religious forms do not seem like religious but

basically they are a secular form of religiosity.

Authors – J. Edgar Bauer, Dale Coker, Janet K. Ilacqua, Manuel Franzmann, Kimmo

Kääriäinen, Kimmo Ketola, Kati Niemelä, Dušan Lužný, Zdeněk R. Nešpor, Martin Staněk,

Péter Török, Daniel Toth, Isacco Turina

New Age

Edited by Michaela Moravčíková

2005, Institute for State-Church Relations, 686 pp.

ISBN 80-89096-19-0

At present a disintegration of ambiguous, mystical-esoteric nebula of New Age can be visible

to the naked eye. New Age as a specific product of the post-modern age is only one of its

manifestations. This publication tries to show various aspects of New Age through diverse

approaches and points of view. It has come into being thanks to the kind willingness of

authors who offered their opinions on this wide-spectral phenomenon. This project would

have been autotelic indeed if it did not encourage the reader to think and open a number of

new ranges of issues. What grooves has New Age left on us, what will remain unforgotten

and what drives people forward? What will the „next age“ be like?

Islam in Europe

Edited by Michaela Moravčíková and Miroslav Lojda

2005, Institute for State-Church Relations, 380 pp.

ISBN 80-89096-22-0

Islam and Europe belong to the most frequently used words nowadays. So if we connect them,

we find ourselves on the pulse of events. Muslims create one fifth of mankind and the Muslim

population has the majority in forty-four countries of the world. Europe, like America, has

become a truly multicultural region after World War II. This multiculturalism means for them

not only enrichment but also complications. The number of muslim communities has

increased dramatically. They represent an important part of European societies not only in

capitals of Western Europe and Moscow, but gradually also in other countries of former

socialist bloc.

Europe and New Religious Movements II

Edited by Miroslav Lojda

2005, Institute for State-Church Relations, 151 pp.

ISBN 80-89096-21-2

The publication maps the legislative arrangements of the status of new religious movements

in several European countries. (Belarus, Estonia, Finland, Netherlands, Croatia, Portugal,

Russia and Italy). It should serve as a basis for the legislative process connected with further

adjustments of the relations between the State and the new religious movements in the Slovak

Republic.
