'Amityville Horror' proves 50 Cent and company hit the streets to be a successful remake

ntioch residents got their 15 minutes of fame when the streets and church of their town was showcased in the new film “The Amityville Horror”. Even though most of the Antioch residents went to catch a glimpse of their streets on the big screen; the new film provided them and audiences everywhere with a satisfaction that only a good film could dish out. “The Amityville Horror” tells the story of a family moving into a house with a terrible p a s t . Unknown to the buyers at first, the house once was the site of a violent murder. The murderer pleaded that he had heard voices in the house telling him to do it. After the new buyers have decided that this is the house for them, the realtor lays this gruesome history fact about the house on them. Despite their gut instincts to glance at another house, the couple moves in with the motto “Houses don’t kill people, kill people.” Although quite different than the 1979 version, “The Amityville Horror” that was released on April 15, is fast paced and exhilarating. The newer version of the film is different from the first film because it excludes two supporting characters. It may seem weird that a remake of a film would do such a thing, but in this case it worked great. Many scenes
For the movie 'Amityville Horror', the production company used an existing house in Silver Lake, WI for several scenes in the film. The image on the left shows promotional clips of the film is the west side of the structure. The photo below shows the south side of the house as seen from Highway F.

of the original dragged because of these characters, and with them out of the plot this time around, the film moved much better and was less complex. This new version of “The Amityville Horror” also focused more on the affect that the house had on the husband than the original. The idea of showing the house’s affect on the husband made the film more interesting and easy to follow. The film flawlessly shows the loving husband from the start to how the house starts to bring him down. These changes in the plot allowed room for this new version to be much scarier and interesting to viewers. With changing the focus slightly of the film, the director was able to pack many scenes of terrifying sequences into the format. These scenes of terror set “The Amityville Horror” aside from all of the
horror films of our time. This film will leave viewers screami n g , jumping, and then laughing at their reaction seconds later. It’s been a long time since Hollywood put a film out there that has truly been able to scare its audiences. This film succeeds because of its topic-ghosts. Whether people will believe it or not, everyone has always thought about the idea at least once or twice if ghosts do or do not exist. In more time, research will be able to prove whether theories of ghosts are far fetched or not, but DEH-P4700MP

until then, the idea of someone dying will always make someone ponder if a ghost may have taken up the spot that person once held. Since the film highlights the idea of ghosts possessing this house and even the people inside, viewers get scared because they will automatically start to rethink their position on ghosts and look behind themselves a little more than normal when they enter their dark house. “The Amityville Horror” is a success because it is terrifying yet captivating at the same time.
